Personality:
Eddie is a very shy boy who is slowly coming out of his shell. He has been introduced to normal household activities and comes out and explores happily, but remains cautious about being approached; he will hiss if startled. He accepts pats if you approach quietly and let him initiate contact. Luring him with Churro or a similar treat works well. He will take time to settle into any new home and requires patience. He loves playfighting with his two sisters, Lavender and Violet, and will chat with the dog on the other side of the glass door, but has still not allowed the dog to approach and say hi in person.

Ideal Home:
Eddie was the smallest of his four siblings. Before coming into care, he had no contact with people, so he has continued to improve and learn about treats and being around people. He has been fostered with other dogs and cats, and he has been interested in and fine with them.

Meet beautiful Astrid, a confident, affectionate little girl with an enormous personality and an even bigger capacity for love!
Astrid has spent her first year living outdoors, where she's been lovingly cared for since she was a tiny kitten. Over that time, she's blossomed into an incredibly sweet and sociable cat who absolutely adores attention.

She's a professional purr machine, a devoted treat enthusiast, and loves nothing more than a good cuddle and plenty of pats. She's comfortable being hand-fed and has developed a wonderful bond with the humans who care for her.

Astrid has never lived indoors, so she'll need a patient, loving home where she can settle in at her own pace and discover all the comforts of being someone's cherished companion.

She's such a special little cat that her current carers would keep her in a heartbeat if circumstances allowed. Saying goodbye won't be easy, but they know she deserves a loving home of her very own.

Personality: Cindy is a playful girl who will be shy at first but doesn't take long to warm up to you, though she does prefer quiet spaces she is definitely an extremely active cat and a very curious girl, she loves all sorts of toys and playing.

Winter may be over, but our Winter Desex Campaign is still going strong!

In participation with selected South and West Auckland vets, the Lonely Miaow Association is providing desexing and microchipping assistance for domesticated cats.

To be eligible, cats must weigh over one kilogram, be physically healthy, and you must be able to transport your cat in a carrier to one of three veterinary clinics located in South and West Auckland.

Compulsory desexing and microchip would be a great place to start!!

Well it's that time of the year again "KITTEN SEASON AND THE RIPPLE EFFECT" as temperatures warm and un-desexed cats go into heat and reaches its highest volume during the summer months (November to March/April), heavily overwhelming local rescue groups. During this time rescue groups see a massive surge of stray and abandoned litters, with kittens often making up around 75% of animal intake This is so draining on rescue groups resources as kittens are very vulnerable and are completely reliant on their temporary care givers to stay alive.
That volume hits rescues groups hard, who are desperately trying to make a difference, in several ways:
• Space — fills fast, and a crowded shelter is a stressful, higher-disease environment for young kittens.
• Staff and volunteer time — orphaned newborns need bottle feeding around the clock, and every litter needs cleaning, weighing and health checks.
• Money — food, milk replacer, vaccinations, worming, flea treatment, vet care and desexing all add up before a single kitten is adopted.
• Longer seasons — mild winters and missed desexing (for example during COVID lockdowns) have stretched seasons out, leaving little recovery time between one and the next. This is just one part of why desexing is so important. Prevention is better than cure!

Personality: Hello? Is it you? My future family?
I’m Hayley and I´m the smallest in my litter, but my feelings are very big. I’ve been through some rough times, so I don’t trust the world easily yet. Sometimes I freeze, sometimes I hide, and sometimes I watch from a distance just to make sure everything is safe. But deep down I want to feel safe too. And loved. Are you the one? The one who won´t abandon me? The one who will share their fluffy bed and some kibbles with me? Be patient with me. It took me four months for me to trust my foster parents, but now I´m attacking their feet and hiding under their blanket, fighting all the monsters there! I’m still learning that gentle hands can be kind and soft voices can mean love instead of fear. And when I finally feel brave enough to be picked up, I don’t want to let go. Ever! I’ll cling close like I’ve found the one place I can finally relax. And maybe cause chaos. Just a little bit. Oh and I looove the fishing rod! I will chase it all day! That little whale on that rope is the key to win me over in a heartbeat! My foster parents make sure, that it can come with me into my forever home. I can´t wait for that!
Ideal Home: My two big brothers have been my protectors so far, and I looked up to them a lot. I´m not doing well alone, so another cat or kitten in the family would be great, someone to show me that the world isn’t so scary.
I may be shy, but I have the biggest heart waiting behind those big eyes. I notice kindness. I remember it. And I grow a little braver every time someone is gentle with me. So … is it you? The one who will give me time, patience and a safe place to finally come out of my shell? I think I’m ready to trust… slowly, but truly.

Personality: Violet is a shy girl who can take a while to come out of her shell, but once she does, she is very smoochy and will purr away. She had a pretty rough start to life, and its taken a few months to get her to accept, and enjoy being patted, but once you have her trust she is very loving

Ideal Home: She would be suited to a quiet home, she is curious about our medium sized dog, would probably be fine with a well mannered dog in the house. She chats away with her brother and sister, and the dog when he is around and would probably enjoy other feline company. She does have a pink nose and pink ears, so an indoor home would probably be recommended for her.

Ideal Home: Pixie is used to young children. She loves Petal but is known to whack other cats. She hasn’t spent any time around dogs yet, but we think she should be comfortable with a cat savvy dog following a slow and careful introduction.

Personality: In the Michelin Guide, a Bib Gourmand is awarded for exceptional value - and this cat is a great deal! A gorgeous gorgeous girl (a stunning silver tabby), Bib Gourmand gives excellent head butts, absolutely loves to snuggle, and is the queen of flops (and enjoys getting her belly rubbed). She also chuffs constantly, and will call out for your attention when she is feeling neglected. In new situations she can be a little growly/hissy, but she relaxes quickly (it only took her about 24 hours to settle into her foster home), at which point she turns into a confident, sweet, smoochy girl. She loves her bed, and her blankie - she enjoys being tucked in under the covers, and will tuck herself in for a snooze. If you try to take her blanket away, she will grab it and pull it back - its real cute.

Ideal Home: She's not a fan of other cats, however, so she should go to a home where she'll be the only feline resident. She has not been assessed with dogs. If you're looking for a loving companion, who is past the craziness of kittenhood, look no further - Bib Gourmand is your girl!
