Baz winning his first event🥇at Waihora ODE. Sitting🥈after dressage on 72.7%, the only XC clear in our class around very tough track and just a green rail SJ where he didn’t quite read it right to win the 65 by over 30 penalties!!

Lexi was also super for her first event sitting 5th after dressage on 66.3%, clear SJ and just missed out a tricky jump XC to give her a good experience (and still finished 9th 😳). She wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this whole eventing thing at the start, but came off the XC super confident ready for more!

Incredibly grateful for another NI trip earlier this year 🖤

We headed up straight after the SI Champs prizegiving after finishing packing (lots and lots of hay 😂) between tests and overnight. Unfortunately Waikato PL Show didn’t quite go as planned due to some swimming being required, with Gamble and Kiki’s tests mostly being cancelled and Ru and I being thankful just to have made it through our tests after him being stung by a wasp in the paddock (and having a decent sized allergic reaction, not that we realised what it was at the time).

And then what a last comp before Ru heads into semi-retirement! A tidy YR team test in the indoor for 66% 🥈, then a bit of a tired YR ind test being in the heat of the day + Ru adding in random extra half passes when he felt like it being a bit costly for another 66% 🥉. He then gave me everything he had left for our favourite MFS 🎶 with many happy tears coming out of the arena. And for a bonus we also took out the win🥇with over 70%!!

Kiki improved with every test, finishing with a 5th in 3C, and Gamble picked up 5th in the TiES series. A super experience for them both and lots and lots of learning!!

Incredibly grateful to everyone who made this trip happen, it’s not something I thought I’d get to do again on Ru (or quite so soon in general) so to finish with a 70.7% in our MFS just makes it all the more special. A huge thank you to mum, dad and Georgia for driving me round the country and looking after the horses at home, for having me to stay and all your help, for keeping me looking amazing and their continued support, for refitting all my saddles before we left, and for my stunning new KASK and Cavalor products to keep the horses feeling top form. Also to .equestrian for their sponsorship of the competitions and all the event organisers, stewards and volunteers. And finally to my incredible horses 🦄. Signing off for the 25/26 dressage season and looking forward to the next

Dun and Dusted
10yo mare QHxArab 14.1hh approx

Lexi is very pretty, with good paces and is a super cool jumper and all-round pony club pony. She would be a great junior Springston Trophy mount for this year.

Lexi has schooled to 95cm SJ and 80cm eventing. Unfazed by fill, liverpools, etc. She has recently competed at 65cm at Waihora ODE for 66% dressage and 5th and Amberley ODE for 5th overall with a double clear. She has been to pony club many times and competed at our in-house dressage day for 3rd overall. She flew round the 80cm Show-Cross at Halswell clear in both SJ and XC and is ready for a 80cm ODE (and will do so if not sold prior).

She has been games training and has been perfect - brave with games gear, good for handovers (slowly and at speed), good to vault and is not worried by other horses galloping up and down. She has been kept slow on the games pitch, so is happy just to trot/canter up and down, but would also go faster if asked. She has also previously done trekking and cowboy challenges.

Good to worm, clip, and for farrier (has not needed to be shod as has good hard feet). While she is still green, and best suited to an experienced home, she is uncomplicated, brave and willing.

✨ Merit Award for ELDR Galaxy’s Guardian ✨
Our second stop of the day took us to the home of Christine and Gemma Lewis, where we met a very interestingly bred youngster - ELDR Galaxy’s Guardian.
This foal brings together a thoughtful mix of bloodlines from both sides of the sporthorse world.
By MF Starburst (Starpower TN × Euro Sport Centavos), he carries strong jumping influence through the sire line, while his dam Giselle MH (Gymnastik Star × Dream Boy) brings elegance and rideability from the dressage side.
The result is exactly the sort of versatile, athletic type you like to see heading toward eventing, which is the section he was presented in.
He enters Derivative Register 1, due to a small amount of unknown breeding further back in the stallion’s pedigree.
On the day he presented as a nice, balanced youngster with good proportions and an athletic way of going, earning a Merit Award with 79%.
Gemma herself was unfortunately up in the Waikato competing her dressage horse in pouring rain… while we were enjoying glorious Canterbury sunshine - definitely the wrong weekend to be away! 😄
Thankfully a local friend stepped in to present the foal beautifully for assessment.
A really nice type of youngster and a great example of thoughtful, multi-discipline breeding.
