We are so thankful for all your messages and support to help find a pooch for our loving client.

We are beyond grateful that we've found her little Bowie, who has fitted into her life and heart so well. It’s truly heartwarming to see such a wonderful thing happen!

Thank you again, Kāpiti region, for always showing up for our community and our furry friends. 🤍🐾

EDIT - Thanks so much for the responses, we have probably found a match! Really appreciate everyone's help 🥰
Hello wonderful followers in the Kapiti region - we need your help! One of our clients has recently said goodbye to her beloved little dog, which has left her very lonely and ready to open her home to another one. She is older herself and is hoping to find a small breed, senior dog that is in need of a home to a VERY loving new owner. She has resources to manage health issues and her home and garden are lovely and fully fenced.
Please get in touch with us at 0212838826 or [email protected] if you know of anyone looking to rehome an older wee dog.

Look who we got to visit! Meet sweet little Alfie!

Alfie decided the absolute best way to win over the team was by showing off his very best "shake" for treats—and honestly? He earned an A+ and plenty of extra snacks! 🐾

Thanks for making our day, Alfie! Who else has a pet with a trick they just love showing off? Let us know in the comments! 👇

Look at those pearly whites! 🦷✨

Handsome Alfie recently came in to see our team for his routine annual vaccination. During his full nose-to-tail health check, we noticed some tartar buildup accumulating on his teeth.

His fantastic owners booked him in for a full dental procedure, and just look at the before-and-after results! Clean, polished, and shiny white! Alfie was more than happy to show off his brilliant new smile to his mum as soon as he got home.

Why are regular dental checks and cleanings so important? Tartar buildup traps bacteria under the gumline, leading to painful inflammation (gingivitis) and potential tooth loss if left untreated.

Dental disease isn't just about bad breath, bacteria from infected gums can enter the bloodstream and affect vital organs like the heart, liver, and kidneys.

Is your pet due for a wellness check, or have you noticed a bit of tartar buildup? Give us a call or book an appointment online to keep your furry friend's smile healthy and bright! 🐾

Ready for this Friday fun fact!

The title for the largest ears relative to body size belongs to the fennec fox their giant 6-inch ears make up about a third of their entire body length! 👂🏻🦊

While a fennec fox uses those massive radars to stay cool in the desert and hear insects scurrying underground, your dog or cat’s ears are finely tuned sensors, too. However, because pet ear canals are shaped like an "L," they are prime real estate for trapping moisture, wax, debris, and sneaky infections.

If you notice symptoms like frequent head shaking, scratching, a dark discharge, or an unusual smell, it’s best to get them checked promptly.

Catching ear issues early keeps your pet comfortable, prevents deep-canal infections, and ensures those hearing radars stay sharp and pain-free.

Fun Fact Friday! 🔍

Did you know that the Giant Armadillo holds the record for the largest claws relative to body size in the animal kingdom? Their front claws can grow up to 20 cm long making up over 20% of their total body length - Eeeek!

• Why Nail Care Matters for Our Domestic Pets •
While giant armadillos naturally wear down their claws by constantly digging, our senior cats and dogs often need a bit of extra help!

As pets get older, a few things change:

•Decreased Activity
Senior pets walk less on hard surfaces like pavement that naturally file down nails.
•Reduced Scratching
Older cats often scratch scratching posts less due to arthritis or reduced flexibility.
•Thicker NailsAging nails naturally become harder, thicker, and curl faster.

When nails grow too long, they can curl under and grow directly into the sensitive paw pads. Ingrown nails are incredibly painful, can cause severe infections, and often require veterinary treatment to safely remove.

At The Vet Van, we come directly to you! By caring for your pet in their familiar home environment, we can gently trim their nails without the car ride, waiting room noise, or clinic stress!

Meet Ember and Ewok! 🏰✨

These two resilient little souls had a rough start when they were found abandoned in a shopping bag, but look at them now! Their incredible new owners just surprised them with a luxury cat castle, and it’s safe to say it’s royalty approved.

Little Ember had a minor bump in the road with a sore eye, but the fantastic Dr. Alice jumped right into action treating her eye with some medication and cleared her for a world of adventures.
