Lorna arrived home in the UK yesterday to spend time with family for a few weeks, but straight off the plane she called into visit Addfield Incinerators to pick up a few parts and a tour of where our crematorium was crafted (She’s looking pretty fresh for someone that just got off a long haul flight!) Fascinating to see some of the other options the Addfield team have for us to consider as we ponder how to improve our service in future.
Can’t say enough about how well Addfield have supported us in learning how to commission and operate our equipment, and very reassuring to know if we ever have a technical issue that help is only a phone call away, valuable members of our team!
While Lorna enjoys the best of the Scottish Summer, Duncan and Isla are here ready if you need us anytime.

If one of your pets has gone on their journey through the Summerland, we always love to hear and see the stories of your treasured family member. Along with often hearing the heartache of how they passed, because we treat every pet with the same level of respect and dignity, it means a lot to hear about the impact they’ve had on the lives of their family. We’d love to share those stories like our friends at Passing Paws do, so if and when you’re ready please share those with us (and if it’s for a public memorial or just for us)

Four weeks ago today, Lucky was surrounded by love as he started his next journey. 🌈💕
His family have shared these heartfelt words in tribute to a very special boy .

There are no words to express everything you gave and brought into our lives and just how perfect you are! You completed the puzzle to our little family.
For 10 and 1/2 years you were my soulmate, you were my guardian wahing over Maddie and I with a fierce protection. You didn’t just live alongside us; you protected and loved us with every beat of your heart. You made everyday better and since you left the hole in our hearts is immense.
It hurts because you mattered... so much!
Thank you Lucky for a life of pure devotion, for being my protector and for being the truest love I have ever known. I will carry you with me... always!

Once a pet has gone through the cremation process, they come into our home where we carefully prepare them into your choice of urn and package to travel home. We feel they are a part of our family while in our care and aren’t alone.

There’s a moment after goodbye that no one really prepares you for.

It’s not the appointment.
It’s not the decision.
It’s not even the final breath.

It’s what comes after.

It’s walking back into your home…
and everything feels different.

Their bed is still there.
Their toys are still there.
You still expect to hear their nails on the floor… or see them waiting for you.

But they’re not.

That quiet is something you don’t understand until you feel it.

And in that moment, it can feel unbearable.

But what I want you to know is this…

That pain you feel is a reflection of how deeply you loved them.
And even though they’re not physically there anymore…
they never really leave the life you built together.

Be gentle with yourself in that silence.
It’s one of the hardest parts.💕

We couldn’t say enough about having Jordan & NB on our team and as we’ve put our service together along with our farm business while also navigating farm succession.
He’s also an absolute ninja on Xero too which we learn a ton from and has saved a ton of stress.

What’s in a name?

We live at Mt Somers, a small town at the foot of the Southern Alps in Canterbury, known for its vast open spaces, iconic New Zealand scenery and untouched South Island beauty.

As a family, we feel intimately connected to the land through regenerative farming and intergenerational ties, sharing a deep, collective love for all the animal souls in our lives.
