Brodie โœจ
6yr old TB gelding | 16.1hh (home measured)
Playmaker (O'Reilly/Pins) X Absolutely Peaches (No excuses needed)

Brodie has been with us to be started under saddle and has now had around 12 weeks of ridden work. He was a very straightforward horse to start and has continued to show a kind, willing nature throughout his education.

He is not hot or spooky and takes everything in his stride. Brodie has begun both flat and jump schooling and is progressing well in both. He can be ridden alone or in company and has been ridden extensively over our hill country farm.

He is good with stock, dogs, tractors, kids on bikes and the general day-to-day activity of a busy farm environment. He has never been near a racetrack, has naturally nice paces and gives the impression he will suit a wide range of disciplines.

We can see him enjoying eventing, hunting or dressage, but he would equally suit someone wanting a sensible, enjoyable low-level allrounder to get out and do a bit of everything with.

A lovely young horse with a solid foundation and a great attitude toward work. Brodie is ready to find his next rider with the home being of upmost importance for this special boy ๐Ÿฅฐ

Viewings and any questions are welcome while he is with us. ๐ŸŠONO

Most riders are taught how to ride trained horses. Very few are taught how horses are actually educated.

A horse is not born understanding leg aids, rein pressure, body position, or how to search for the correct answer under pressure. Those responses are installed through systematic education: pressure, release, repetition, timing, and clarity.

When that education is incomplete, people often label the horse stubborn, resistant, anxious, or difficult. In reality, many horses are simply operating on instinct because no reliable educated response exists yet.

Check out our new article exploring how horses learn, how instinctive reactions are replaced with educated responses, and why correct training is far more about clarity and repetition than force.

Perry (CRSH Imperial) taking the next step in his ridden education โ€” learning about trotting under saddle in the round pen.

Heโ€™s proving himself to be a smart, sensitive and willing young horse, and is developing into the kind of partner that should make a very enjoyable ridden horse in the future.๐ŸŽ

We had a visitor watching over our roundpen at Kintail. So cool to see these amazing birds up close. It was first spotted on the rails, then happily watched us from a perch in the Macrocarpas.

Here's a peek at two of the horses in work with us โ€” one still here, and one recently finished up.

Kip โ€” whoโ€™s been with us to be started under saddle โ€” continuing to progress well. Heโ€™s taking everything in stride, gaining confidence, and beginning to understand the job.

Mikki โ€” an Irish Sporthorse, new to the page โ€” here for schooling and hill work. The focus with her is building strength, balance, and consistency in her work.

This is a ride we use often.
Up and over Mount Cameron, through the bush, and across the river โ€” proper country that gives a fair picture of where a horse is at.

With the kids along as well, it becomes more of a group setting. A bit more going on, a bit more to take in โ€” and a good chance for both horses to settle, think, and keep moving forward.

Nothing forced, nothing rushed.
Just consistent work, real miles, and honest progress.
