Today is a day worth celebrating 🥹
Today is officially the last day of quarantine.
It's a surreal feeling, I still feel as if my yard is a hazard, and I don't know how long it will take me to not feel on edge about moving around and touching my rabbits, but today marks the first day of recovery!
As we move out if survival mode and into the next stage recovery, I'll be working hard and making some more changes around here.

I will have some rabbits that were kits and survived the outbreak who are now adults looking for their forever homes.
And I may also have a baby here or there available over the wee while as we start to recover what was lost.

We also have our first litter to announce, gorgeous wee babies out of Bonny Lops Hazel, a lovely sooty fawn brood doe, and sired by Bonny Lops Nimbus II our super handsome typey wee sable magpie.

Introducing Bonny Lops Truffle
The only chocolate doe kit to make it through the outbreak.
She was 4 weeks old when she had to begin living life on her own 😔 I waited patiently and carefully till she was old enough to be vaccinated. She missed out on being able to have it in our first group vax. Its been like walking on eggshells waiting for her to grow.
She's now 14 weeks old and doing really well.

Truffle is part of my chocolate program. Working to improve type and then share this stunning colour with others around the country 🤎

Took the first photos taken in a loooong time yesterday!
Myself and the buns felt very out of practice for posing and photos after such a long time.

This gorgeous boy is the last one left from my tri/harlequin project. So thankful he made it through! 🥹

I'm still having to be extremely careful here untill mid May.
It's been really difficult, but I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel now.

It is with great sadness that I announce that we have RCD in my Rabbitry 😭

The past 5 days have been devastating, and heartbreaking, tonight I lost two of my top favorites 😪😭

For those who don't know what RCD is, Calisivirus is a highly virulent rabbit disease that kills rabbits very very quickly.

If you have any unexpected deaths, or you live somewhere where wild rabbits are being found dead please do not visit anyone with rabbits.

I know of others locally who've also had some unexpected deaths isolated from us, so Calisivirus is doing the rounds. Please vaccinate you pets to keep them safe from this horrible fate 😪

What this means for Bonny Lops Rabbitry...
At this stage we have gone into lockdown, no rabbits out, no rabbits in.
Sorry there will be not available rabbits for a while.

Praying everyone else stays unaffected.

My wee Bellatrix had 9 babies! A record here such a surprise! And an even bigger surprise is that she carries the chocolate gene!
