A little idea for all Schnauzer lovers in NZ

There seem to be quite a few Schnauzer pages popping up around New Zealand now – things like Auckland Schnauzers, and groups such as Miniature Schnauzers of Christchurch, where people organise walks, beach trips, picnics, and little meet-ups with their schnauzers.

It’s amazing up north, but down in the South Island it feels like there aren’t quite as many yet.
There’s a group in Nelson, one in Christchurch, but what about the rest of us?

Imagine a Schnauzer walking group in Timaru… or Dunedin… or Invercargill… or Queenstown… even one on the West Coast...Oamaru! Come on team, we just need a few people willing to set these up.

I’ve been to the Christchurch Schnauzer walks and they are honestly so good. So many schnauzers running around together, especially at places like Sumner Beach.
It’s not just fun for the dogs either – it’s a great way for owners to connect, ask questions, share advice, and make new friends. You never know… you might even find yourself a free house sitter one day!

Even something small would be perfect – 10 little schnauzers meeting up for a beach walk or a stroll along a river.

Just putting it out there… if anyone feels inspired, set up a page, invite people in, and let’s get more schnauzer meet-ups happening across the South Island 💛

This is my hideout.
Don’t tell anyone where I am.

If another dog walks past, I’m going to jump out and scare them like a tiny criminal 😈

Then I’ll act like nothing happened.
Innocent face only

All I wanted this public holiday was a sleep-in.

Just a couple of peaceful hours.
A comfy bed.
A quiet house.
A little bit of me time.

But no...

The puppies needed me.

They squeaked.
They wiggled.
They wanted milk.
They wanted cuddles.
They wanted Mum.

Every time I thought I could close my eyes for five minutes, another tiny squeak would appear from somewhere.

So while everyone else is enjoying their public holiday, I've been on full-time mum duty.

Would I change it?

Absolutely not.

Am I exhausted?

Also absolutely yes.

I may be tired, but those chunky little puppies are worth every lost minute of sleep. ❤️

Why Every Family Needs a Dog (According to Dogs!)

Thinking about adding a furry family member? Here are just a few reasons why dogs make life better:

Built-in Best Friend
Dogs don't care what you look like, how bad your hair is, or if you've eaten the last biscuit. They love you anyway and are always happy to see you—even if you've only been gone for 30 seconds!

Personal Fitness Trainer
Dogs have a magical ability to know exactly when you've sat down with a cup of coffee. That's when they decide it's time for a walk! More exercise for them means more exercise for you.

Teaching Responsibility
Dogs are excellent teachers. They teach children (and sometimes adults!) about responsibility, patience, kindness, and the importance of remembering where the treat jar is kept.

Social Butterfly Assistants
Without a dog: "Hello."
With a dog: 20-minute conversation with a complete stranger about dog breeds, favourite treats, and who sheds the most. Dogs are fantastic icebreakers!

Home Security Team
Most dogs take their security role very seriously. Whether it's the postie, a leaf blowing past, or a suspicious-looking cat three streets away, they'll make sure you know about it.

Stress Busters
Bad day? Dog cuddles.
Feeling down? Dog cuddles. Feeling happy?
More dog cuddles. Dogs have a remarkable talent for making everything feel a little bit better.

Life Lessons Included
Dogs teach us about loyalty, unconditional love, living in the moment, and the fact that mud puddles are apparently the greatest invention ever.

A Gentle Reminder
Dogs do require time, commitment, training, love, and a budget for food, grooming, toys, and the occasional emergency zoomie-related incident. Make sure you're ready for the adventure before bringing one home.

At the end of the day, a dog isn't just a pet. They're a family member, a best friend, a walking companion, a therapist, a comedian, and occasionally a professional sock thief.

Life is simply better with a dog.

Kiki’s Puppies Update 🐾

Kiki’s puppies are doing really, really well 💕
They are feeding beautifully and growing strong every day. We’re starting to see big changes now — they’re up on their feet a lot more and beginning to wobble around and explore their little world.

Kiki is also doing amazing.
She’s started to spend a bit more time outside the whelping box and is really enjoying the sunshine again. It’s lovely to see her having little strolls around the garden or sitting in her favourite chair just soaking it all up 💛

Everything is going really smoothly here and it’s such a special stage watching them develop.

If you’ve been following the Kiki posts (or if you’ve got a Kiki puppy), thank you for being part of the journey.
We love seeing your comments.

Next month we’ll start organising pickup dates and flights, and begin sending puppy packs for those little ones heading off to their new homes.

As always, if you’ve got any questions at all, just sing out — we’re always happy to help ❤️

Tui’s Puppies – Just Over 1 Week Old!

Tui’s puppies are now just over a week old and doing beautifully. They’re feeding well, growing steadily, and spending most of their time doing what newborn pups do best… eating and sleeping on repeat.

As we move from week one into week two, some lovely little changes are starting to happen. While their eyes and ears are still closed right now, their bodies are working hard behind the scenes as they grow stronger every day. You’ll start to notice a bit more wriggling, stronger movements, and more coordinated little crawls as they find their way around Mum and the whelping box.

By next weekend, when they are just over two weeks old, we’re likely to see some exciting milestones — their eyes should be opening (or well on the way) and their ear canals will also begin to open, meaning they’ll start to respond to sounds for the first time.

Tui is doing an amazing job as always — keeping them warm, fed, and spotless, and staying right by their side. This is such an important stage in their development, and she is absolutely nailing it.

We’ll keep the updates coming as they continue to grow and reach each little milestone.
Stay tuned for more Tui puppy cuteness soon ❤️

“Mummy… mummy… I’ve got a secret to tell you… 🤫

Come closer… I’m going to whisper it right into your ear…

Remember to listen carefully… it’s very important…

I think I’m your favourite little puppy… but don’t tell the others! ❤️”
