Regards Gunnar Foseid, Norway � On the Ascention Day, Thursday 10 May 1945, Short Stirling LK147, LK297 and LJ899 crashed during "Operation Doomdsay", the Allied Liberation of Norway, en route to Gardermoen airfield. LK147 crashed only 1500 meters south of the western runway at Gardermoen. All the 20 men onboard perished. LK297 crashed in Andtjernåsen, Sørkedalen,
just north of Oslo. All the 24 men onboard perished. LJ899 made a forced landing on Lake Röjden just across the Swedish border. 4 of the men perished. 18 survived. A Commemoration regarding LK147 was held both at the crashsite located near Gardermoen International airport on saturday 12 May 2012, and at Vestre Gravlund Civil Cemetery in Oslo, where the men rest today. Almost 30 relatives came to Norway to attend the Memorial. The relatives came all the way from Australia, England and Scotland. Saturday and Sunday 11 and 12 May 2013 a Memorial was arranged both at Vestre gravlund Cemetery and at the crash site in Andtjernåsen, Sørkedalen, Oslo, in Remembrance of the 24 men onboard LK297 who perished. A Memorial to Commemorate the perished and the survivors of LJ899 will be arranged Saturday 10 May 2014 at the crash site at Lake Rojden, just across the Swedish border close to Torsby.
