Ok so here is a little perspective on how i feel about my hobby and what i feel i need to do better in the future.
As most of you know i have been keeping and breeding Cornsnakes for 25 (breeding) - 30 (keeping) years now.
For many years now my personal challenge has not been to hatch the newest most trendy mutations but the best quality animals and pets as possible.
To further help anyone interested in keeping reptiles i started my own company on October fourth (yes World Animals Day ☺️) 2023.
With my company (), which is not created as a business model, i aim to aid and tutor kids, newbies in the hobby and anyone private, in education or business wise learning about reptiles and reptilekeeping.
This year i started working together with a reptileshelter. Nothing big, just re-homing braught-in reptiles through my network.
This has been a succes untill now and my eyes have been opened big time for the situation which underlays the entire pet trade; the issue of petowners not knowing where to go to when they, for any reason, cannot take care of their coldblooded pet anymore..
I have been reflecting on my own hobby for as long as i can remember due to being a pet retail specialist for over 25 years, selling off big parts and semi starting over again a few times trying to move different ways.
This time, considering the political and ethical issues our hobby is coping with i decided to reducing keeping and breeding to a less consuming level and focus more on the purpose of my small company; aiding and tutoring people into understanding coldblooded petkeeping and creating value for responsible petkeeping in general.
So no worries for all my loyal friends and followers Cornsnakes will always be my favorite species but i feel I dont have to be the one to supply them. There are a lot of perfect Cornsnake pets floating around looking for a forever home which i will gladly match when asked for!
