A question I get asked a lot is when can I or should I get another dog? My first question back is why do you want another dog?

If they say it’s for their current dog my answer is always that they don’t need another dog. There are plenty of ways to give your dog dog socialization without the responsibility and cost of another dog.

If they say because they want one I ask why. Is your current dog not meeting a need they currently have? Is it just that you want a specific breed? Is it that you’ve always had multiple dogs so that’s just the way your house works?

Here is a couple requirements for when I think about getting another dog. Are my current dogs in training or is their behavior manageable to the point where I don’t have to focus on it while I’m training the new pup? I usually wait at least 3 years between additions. Is it going to negatively impact my dogs life? If your dog is dog aggressive then it may not be the best idea to bring in a new member. Are you okay with starting over? Can I medically, physically and mentally provide for the new pup?

At the end of the day the choice is always yours but theirs a lot to think about when adding a new addition!

4 week group class working on managing and changing emotions towards your dogs triggers! Open to dogs for all triggers! If your dog barks at dogs, people, bikes, cars, etc this class is made for you!

Classes are 4 weeks long held at Frashure Park in Copley! Classes are $115 total.
