* 沙拉菜 / 各类青菜
* 萝卜
* 烘干水果类
✅ Booster Powder / Critical Care
🚨 An Emergency Call That Reminded Me Once Again:
Gas Bloating in Rabbits Is NEVER a Small Issue
Hello everyone ✨
It’s me, Gladys, here to share something important with you again 😉
There won’t be a short video explanation today, so I really hope you’ll take a few minutes to read this post patiently.
I can say that — what you read today may one day save your rabbit’s life ❤️🐰
⸻
📞 That Night, I Received an Emergency Call…
It was around 7 to almost 8 p.m.
I received a call from a rabbit mama who sounded pretty anxious.
After understanding the situation in detail, I realized this was not a simple case.
Earlier that afternoon, after searching online,
she fed her rabbit some “salad greens.”
At first, everything seemed fine.
But within just a few hours, her rabbit’s condition changed noticeably:
❌ No interest in her usual pellets
❌ No excitement even for her favorite treats
❌ Behaving visibly uncomfortable
So what happened?
👉 Her rabbit had developed gastrointestinal bloating
The pain caused by the gas in her rabbits gut made the rabbit completely unwilling to eat,
which sends the rabbit mama into a panic mode.
What made the situation even more stressful was this — she did not have a rabbit emergency kit at home, and had no idea what to do at that moment.
Thankfully, she managed to rush her rabbit to a veterinary clinic we have long collaborated with — one that accepts exotic and small animals. Even more fortunately, the specific veterinarian was on duty that night.
After examination, it was confirmed:
the rabbit was indeed suffering from GI.
Luckily, the treatment was timely.
Otherwise, the outcome could have been devastating.
⸻
⚠️ A Very Serious Reminder to All Rabbit Parents
GI ( Gas bloating ) in rabbits is NOT something minor and should never be ignored.
Many rabbit parents might think:
“I’ve kept rabbits for years and never had this issue.”
“Google / ChatGPT says it’s okay.”
“I see many people feeding vegetables too.”
But this real-life incident clearly shows us one thing:
👉 Online information is not always fully accurate.
Reliable information should come from:
✔️ ARBA-certified rabbit breeders and their professional teams
✔️ Teams specialized in caring for mini and exotic pets
✔️ Veterinary clinics and veterinarians that treat exotic animals
It’s not about who posts the most information, but who truly understands rabbits.
⸻
🥬 Why Are “Salad Greens” and Vegetables NOT Recommended for Rabbits / Guinea Pigs?
Many people don’t realize that these foods actually carry high risks for rabbits.
🚫 Foods to avoid:
* Salad greens / leafy vegetables
* Carrots
* Oven-dried fruits
Here’s why 👇
1️⃣ Digestive Discomfort / Diarrhea
These foods contain high water content,
which can easily disrupt a rabbit’s delicate digestive system and lead to diarrhea.
2️⃣ Dental Decay
Vegetables, carrots, and fruits contain higher sugar levels than expected. Long-term or excessive feeding can lead to dental decay.
Once dental issues develop,
👉 medical expenses may become long-term and recurring, sometimes monthly.
3️⃣ GI Gas (The Most Dangerous Risk)
When these foods are not fully digested and become trapped in the intestines,
they can cause gas buildup.
⚠️ Most importantly:
If GI issue is not treated in time,
it can become life-threatening within 24–48 hours.
⸻
🚑 Please Remember This Most Important Point
If you have already fed certain foods
and your rabbit or guinea pig shows the following symptoms:
❗ Refusal to eat ( usual pellets, fav treats etc )
❗ Low energy
❗ Tight abdomen or visible discomfort behaviour
👉 Contact a professional or veterinary team immediately.
👉 Do NOT wait or take any chances.
What you think is “just monitoring,”
could actually be missing the best time to save your rabbit.
⸻
🧰 Why Do I Keep Emphasizing the Importance of a “Rabbit Emergency Kit”?
Many parents say:
“If anything happens, I’ll just rush to the vet.”
But reality is —
❗ Not every situation allows immediate transport
❗ Not every clinic accepts exotic pets
❗ Not every veterinarian is on duty at all times
And when it comes to rabbit digestive issues,
time is something you do not have.
When your rabbit stops eating, becomes weak, or shows abdominal discomfort,
👉 ask yourself: Do you have anything at home to help stabilize your rabbit first?
That is exactly why a Rabbit Emergency Kit exists.
⸻
🐰 What Should a Proper Rabbit Emergency Kit Include?
It’s not about buying items “just in case,”
but about having tools that truly help in critical moments.
✅ Booster Powder / Critical Care
👉 Provides emergency nutritional support
👉 Prevents the digestive tract from shutting down
👉 Supports gut movement and helps clear blockages
This is often what helps rabbits hold on during emergencies.
✅ Anti-Gas Medication
👉 Helps release trapped gas in the digestive system
👉 Relieves pain and discomfort caused by bloating
When a rabbit is bloated,
the pain can be severe enough to stop them from eating entirely. This is where anti-gas support becomes crucial.
✅ Digestive Support Supplements
👉 Not only for emergencies
👉 Long-term use helps strengthen digestive health
A strong digestive system
means a lower risk of serious issues.
✅ Probiotics
👉 Maintains healthy gut bacteria
👉 Keeps intestinal movement optimal
This is often overlooked,
yet it is a very important foundation of daily care.
✅ Hairball Paste
👉 Must be given according to expert-recommended dosage
👉 Suitable for daily use and shedding seasons
👉 Reduces hair accumulation in the intestines
👉 Lowers the risk of blockage and gas
Many cases of GI gas
actually start with hair blockage.
⚠️ Please Remember This One Sentence:
A rabbit emergency kit is not something you buy hoping to use —
it’s something you prepare, hoping you never need.
But if an emergency does happen,
you will be grateful that
👉 you were prepared.
Don’t wait until something happens to think:
“If only I had prepared earlier…”
⸻
If you’ve read this far,
thank you for caring enough to learn more for your rabbit ❤️
Correct knowledge + early preparation
can truly save a life at a critical moment.
For your rabbit,
taking one extra step today
may prevent a lifetime of regret tomorrow 🐰✨
