Amigos de Animales

Amigos de Animales We rescue stray, sick and abused animals and find them homes. We organise spay and neuter clinics. Rat poison was the way they used to control strays population.

in 2013 Stasya Briggs and Mike Heiner bought and rebuilt a beautiful bed and breakfast in Barra de Potosi, Gro, Mexico, - Hacienda la Rusa and a few months later Stasya witnessed stray dogs dying from poison. Village after village , Stasya went to talk to people and authorities and promised she would take care of the problem a humane way . She started to catch dogs and cats and drive them every d

ay to the SPAZ and local vet to spay or neuter. This is how an animal welfare project Amigos de Animales has started . Hard work of the founder and the group of amazing volunteers have resulted in numerous Mass Spay and Neuter clinics , 7000 + animals sterilized and hundreds rescued , fostered and adopted. what Amigos de Animales do :

* we pick up dogs & cats, take them to a local vet , pay for sterilization, return them back home or street

* we organize and pay for low cost or free mass spay and neuter programs and clinic

* we rescue, foster, treat, feed and vaccinate stray, hurt, abandoned animals

* we take animals we cant save to be euthanized and we stand by their side, providing last comfort

* we look for ways to transport animals up north where they have better chances to find a loving home

what you can do:

* donate, donate, donate

* organize a fundraiser or event of any kind to raise money to support the project

* foster or adopt or transport an animal up north

How was your weekend?!

Amigos weekend was the kind that leaves you exhausted, dirty, emotional… and incredibly proud.
Amigos had another mass spay & neuter clinic, and 150 animals—kitties and pups—were sterilized this weekend. One hundred and fifty lives changed. One hundred and fifty futures protected. 🐾💙

Let’s be very clear:
Mass spay and neuter, paired with animal welfare education, is the ONLY real way to stop overpopulation—and the cruelty and neglect that follow. There is no shortcut. There is no magic wand. This is the work.

And Amigos has been doing it since 2013.
Yes—13 long, bone-crushing, mind-blowing years of showing up, lifting heavy things (emotionally and literally), and refusing to pause. We don’t quit. We don’t rest on “good enough.” We keep going because the animals can’t wait.

This clinic happened because of extraordinary humans.

Endless gratitude to our amazing veterinarian Dra. Eunice and her assistant Lupita , and to the Amigos team and volunteers who gave their time, energy, and hearts: Gris, Carol, Erika, Adriana, Veronica , Blanca y Lluvia, Carlitos, Roberto, Najma Martens, Peter, Jessica, Troy, Benita, Angela, Betsy, Susan and Dean Faithful.
You are the backbone of this mission. Truly.

And a huge, heartfelt cheer to the donor who made this clinic possible:
Tina Dang and the Animal Kindness Project of Orange County.
Your generosity didn’t just fund a weekend—it prevented suffering for years to come!!!

Here’s the honest truth:
None of this happens without kind hearts, strong backs, and yes—generous pockets.

This life-saving work is possible ONLY because of donors.

✨ Sponsor a clinic and be directly responsible for stopping suffering at its source—saving lives, reducing cruelty, and creating lasting change for an entire community.

✨ Donate $$25 - $50 - $100 -and you will make a difference. One small act multiplied into real impact !!!

This is hard work. It’s emotional work.
And it’s the most meaningful work there is.

Thank you for standing with us.
Thank you for believing in prevention.
Thank you for the animals. 🐶🐱💙

During a patrol in the community of Coacoyul, we found a dog with a lump on one of its legs. It's sad to find so many dogs in serious health conditions.
We are fighting to improve the lives of these furry friends who unfortunately have had to live a life of abandonment 😔

Our Story

in 2013 Stasya Briggs and Mike Heiner bought and rebuilt a beautiful bed and breakfast in Barra de Potosi, Gro, Mexico, - Hacienda la Rusa. The property's purpose started to alter when Stasya and Mike rescued abandoned newly born kittens. Stasya and Mike have started an animal welfare project Amigos de Animales of Barra de Potosi. from 2013 till 1016 Mike's and Stasya's hard work resulted in 700 animals sterilized and dozens and dozens rescued , fostered and adopted. in 2016 Shelley Juss joined Amigos de Animales and ever since, two passionate ladies Shelley and Stasya have been tirelessly working on rescue, sterilizations and education.

Edgar and Gris have been volunteers for Amigos free and low cost Spay and Nueter clinics and without hesitation became caretakers of the Safe House for our rescues.

Mitch , Patty and Pam joined the little army in fall of 2017 and ever since the team works together : * we pick up dogs & cats, take them to a local vet or SPAZ, pay for sterilization, return them back home or street * we organize and pay for low cost or free spay and neuter programs and clinic * we rescue, foster, treat, feed and vaccinate stray, hurt, abandoned animals * we take animals we cant save to be euthanized and we stand by their side, providing last comfort * we look for ways to transport animals up north where they have better chances to find a loving home what you can do: * donate, donate, donate - this project is supported by kindness of your donations * organize a fundraiser or event of any kind to raise money to support the project * foster or adopt or transport an animal up north, believe us, its easy!
