PAWS Mauritius PAWS, is a Mauritian community driven animal welfare organization with no affiliation to any political, ethnic or religious group.

We are a transparent CSR-accredited NGO and are totally reliant on public donations and CSR sponsorship. PAWS Mauritius runs 2 no-kill shelters for dogs and cats in distress. At any one time we have some 200 animals under our care. We also have 2 low-cost veterinary clinics and organise sterilisation (spay) days across the island. We rely on the public generosity and we are also registered to rece

Today Esso, Shel, Indy, Engie and Toty were found dumped at a filling station in Mahebourg. They were rescued and tonite are sleeping safely at PAWS Union Vale shelter.

This is Max. Our dear boy at PAWS South. We have tried everything under the sun to improve his skin condition. Treatment works for some time, then stops working.
Now he is again on a special diet (sweet potatoes and a little sardine). No rice, no flour.
Max needs a foster home. Someone willing to keep him for a few weeks until he is better. He needs home cooked meals and frequent baths. We will provide all medication.
Max is an absolute velcro-dog. He is sweet, sweet, sweet. Loves his humans. And will love any stranger as well.

CRY MY BELOVED COUNTRY!
NO ANESTHESIA available islandwide to sterilise dogs and cats, to operate on accident dogs and cats or those infested with maggots or other horrific wounds!!

PAWS has a dwindling stock for emergencies and for 1 sterilisation day in Pailles (already booked since a long time).

This is an URGENT appeal to the authorities, the pharmacy board, the DVS and the Ministry of Agro to help resolve this situation.

No anesthesia means no sterilisation, means the number of unwanted puppies and kittens will keep on increasing.

The wholesalers have already approached the authorities with solutions but there is a total lack of urgent response. Please for the sake of our animals, REACT to ensure that NGOs, government and private vets can carry on much-needed sterilisations!

🥳🥳Two of our disabled doggies got adopted together!!🥰🥰
Jean-Paul contacted us a few weeks ago. He was moving to his new home and wanted to adopt the oldest doggie, one whom no one wanted. We sent him fotos/videos of Valentino who has 3 legs and 1 eye. Valentino has been at the shelter for 7 years now.
We also sent him videos of Kokass - who has a disability in her hind legs after being left on the road by owner and being hit by a car and getting no proper medical attention.
While Jean-Paul and family wanted only 1 pet to start with, they ended up adopting BOTH doggies!! How amazing is this?!
And that was a week ago. Valentino and Kokass have settled in. They are being pampered and loved and adored!
We can never thank you enough Jean-Paul, wife and kids for your huge hearts 💕
Valentino and Kokass, we will miss you but we are so happy you know now what it is to have a proper home and a loving family.
