I SAW A GUY IN MY RESTAURANT MAKE HIS MOM CRY—AND I COULDN’T STAY SILENT.
I was at my small restaurant, chatting with the staff, when I noticed something at one of the tables. There was a sweet older woman, probably in her mid-60s. She wore simple clothes and had the kindest eyes—they reminded me of my own mother. She was in a wheelchair, but she looked graceful and warm.
Sitting next to her was a young man in his late 20s—most likely her son. She kept smiling at him, trying to make conversation, but he barely looked at her. Every time she spoke, he replied with cold, dismissive words, as if she were a bother. Then she accidentally knocked over a glass of water. It wasn’t a big deal, but the sound made a few people glance over. And that’s when he snapped.
“Can I not have one peaceful meal without you doing this? People are staring! I didn’t even want to come, but you kept insisting. I just want this night to be over.” Her smile faded. Tears filled her eyes as she quietly said, “Alright… let’s just go now.” My heart broke. I couldn’t stay quiet. As the owner of the place—and more importantly, as a human being—I knew I had to step in. I walked over to their table. He was about to speak when I calmly, but firmly, said: “Please stop.
