Our Story in Marie Claire Taiwan - Dreams Take Flight in Laos
What does it mean to follow your heart across the world?
For Rachel and Susie, it meant trading corner offices for rice paddies, board meetings for morning milking sessions, and city skylines for the misty mountains of Luang Prabang. Today, Marie Claire Taiwan tells our story in their August issue, calling Laos Buffalo Dairy "a farm with soul" - words that capture exactly what we set out to create.
Ten years ago, this dream seemed impossible. Two women with no farming experience, learning to work with water buffalo, figuring out fermentation temperatures, and building relationships with a community that welcomed us with open arms. The learning curve was steep, the failures frequent, but every small victory felt monumental.
Now our cheeses are served in some of Asia's finest restaurants. More importantly, we're part of a community working to solve real problems - improving nutrition for local children and creating sustainable income opportunities for women in rural Laos.
The magazine captured something beautiful about our journey: this isn't just about making cheese or running a business. It's about proving that when you align your work with your values, magic happens. The buffalo taught us patience, the community taught us resilience, and Laos taught us that success has many definitions.
Every morning when we walk through our farm, watching the sunrise paint the mountains gold, we remember why we made this choice. Some called it crazy. Marie Claire calls it inspirational. We just call it home.
Thank you to 美麗佳人 Marie Claire Taiwan for sharing our story with the world.
