📌 What is an Elongated Soft Palate?
An elongated soft palate is a condition where the soft tissue at the back of a dog’s mouth is too long and partially blocks the airway.
It is commonly seen in **brachycephalic (short-nosed) breeds**, such as:
* French Bulldogs
* Pugs
* English Bulldogs

⚠️ Clinical Signs
Dogs with an elongated soft palate may show:
* Loud snoring or noisy breathing
* Difficulty breathing (especially during exercise or hot weather)
* Gagging or coughing
* Exercise intolerance
* Cyanosis (bluish gums/tongue in severe cases)
These symptoms can worsen over time if not treated.

Soft palate resection surgery is a procedure that **shortens the elongated soft palate** to open the airway and improve breathing.

Meet our lovely girl Ellie, who was rescued from a poorly maintained shelter environment in September last year.

She is an estimated 5-year-old Jindo mix, and she has already been spayed.

She is very active, playful, and full of energy, and she gets along wonderfully with other animals. She would be a great fit for a home that can give her plenty of love, attention, and activity.

She has been patiently waiting for her forever family, and we hope she can find a warm and caring home soon.
