IMPORTANT: Parasite Policy – Please Read
The health and safety of every dog in our salon is our top priority. Due to the serious risk posed by parasites such as fleas, ticks, and lice, we have a strict protocol in place.
If a dog is found to have any parasites upon arrival or during their appointment, they will need to be picked up immediately. In addition, all dogs currently in the salon will be sent home to prevent potential transmission and exposure.
A $20 sanitation fee will be added to your bill to cover the deep cleaning and disinfecting required after a parasite incident. This includes steam-cleaning and bleaching of all affected areas and tools.
We understand that parasite issues can occur unexpectedly, and we do not place blame — however, because this affects every client and groomer in the salon, we must enforce this policy strictly.
Thank you for respecting our efforts to keep all dogs safe, healthy, and parasite-free.
How can my pet get fleas or ticks?😳🌳🍃
Fleas and ticks can be found worldwide. Fleas can live in many climate zones, but they prefer humid and shady areas, such as under a leaf. They can also be carried by many different wild animal hosts, such as foxes, skunks, raccoons, birds, and rodents. They have incredible jumping ability and can easily jump onto you or your pet as you walk by. Ticks can also live in many climate zones, and prefer humid and shady environments, especially areas with woods, shrubs, weeds, and tall grasses. Ticks can be carried by a variety of wild animal hosts such as deer, horses, and rodents. Ticks cannot jump like fleas, but will grab you or your pet as you walk by via a behavior called questing.
How do I know if my pet needs flea/tick prevention?🤔🐶
Fleas and ticks are small and can sometimes be difficult to identify on your pet. Physical examination is the most useful method to identify signs of fleas or ticks (this is why its usually found at the grooming salon). Fleas prefer the head/neck area of cats, and the rump/tail area of dogs. 🐈🐩
Ticks, depending on the life cycle and feeding stage, can vary in size. They can be as small as a pin head or poppy seed or as big as a pencil eraser. Ticks can attach anywhere on the body, but prefer dark and hidden areas like the ears, armpits, groin, tail, and between the toes.
If we find any fleas/lice on your dog there's no judgement, it just means they had a fun time outside! However, your service will end as soon as it has been found and you will need to have your local Veterinarian to clear your pet before coming back to the salon. This prevents transferring parasites to other visiting pets.
