Kari Improved Kienyeji chicken is a 100% indigenous chicken, it is not a product of crossing indigenous breeds with exotic breeds but a result of breeding indigenous parents with good characteristics.
Kari have high resistance compared to other commercial & imported kienyeji breeds.
Kari hens are good layers, they lay 200-280 eggs per year. Multicolored Kari are good sitters.

Sasso is fast growing hybrid, it is bred to grow under all manner of rearing systems and reach market weight of 2 kg in 3 months.
Sasso breed is bred from original parent breeding stocks imported from France. Sasso are 364% superior in body weight at 18 weeks, kuroilers are 345%.
Sasso production ranges between 170-171:eggs per yr compared to kuroilers 150-168 per year.

FOWL POX

Fowl pox is a highly contagious viral infection in poultry that causes painful sores on chicken skin.

Fowl pox occurs in two forms, dry and wet pox. Fowl pox can be prevented and the symptoms treated.
~Dry fowl pox is a viral infection that affects a chicken skin in non feathered areas, most commonly the comb, wattles, face and eyelids.
~Wet pox affects the birds upper respiratory system, eye, mouth and throat and can be life theatening.
Wet and dry fowl pox is spread via mosquitoes.

Do not mistake common pecking injuries on Combs and wattles for fowl pox.

Prevention
~Control mosquitoes
~Quarantine new flock members
~Vaccinate your chicks against fowl pox

During an outbreak, unaffected birds can be vaccinated. Never vaccinate a sick bird.

Infectious coryza is the most dangerous disease caused by bacteria. Antibiotics can be used to treat a flock. Although antibiotics can be effective in reducing clinical signs of the disease, they do not eliminate the bacteria from carriers. So it's advisable to vaccinate your flock at 5-8 weeks with infectious coryza vaccine. Prevention is better than cure.

~ They mature very fast as to compared to pure Kienyeji.
~ They can be reared for both meat and eggs.
~ They can be reared on free-range mode and thereby reducing the cost of production.
~ They are highly resistant to diseases if fully vaccinated.
All above mentioned are unique features that makes improved kienyeji farmers choice in poultry farming.
