One plant that we planted last season and I enjoyed growing was pumpkins. It's the plant that keeps on giving. We planted it in November or December 2019 and it's still producing fruit up to now. The fruits range from 1.5kgs to 9kgs. And it's low maintenance.

Fodder Farming: The first photo was at the end of March. We planted maize and intercropped with naiper grass cuttings in between the rows in May. It's mid June and the naiper grass has established well. Hoping to plant desmodium too. Once we harvest the maize, we will be left with a naiper grass+desmodium fodder plot 😊 Sema

We are continuing to expand the fodder plots for the cows. On the hill slope, we will be planting sweet potato vines, peas, and kikuyu grass. At the bottom of the hill, we have planted naiper grass and we will intercrop with desmodium.

Forecast for the next seven days (14th – 20th January, 2020):
The forecast indicates that:
β€’ The Southern half of the country is expected to receive moderate rainfall during the first two days of the forecast period.
β€’ Moderate rainfall is expected over Southeastern Kenya on Tuesday.
β€’ The Northeastern and Northwestern parts of the country are likely to remain dry.

The Lake Victoria Basin, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Central and South Rift Valley (Counties of Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Laikipia, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma and Busia) are likely to experience mainly sunny intervals in the morning throughout the forecast period except on Tuesday when light rains are expected over few places. Afternoon/Evening showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over few places from Tuesday to Thursday. The remaining days is expected to be dominated by sunny intervals in the afternoon.

Northwestern (Counties of Turkana, West Pokot and Samburu) is likely to experience mainly sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy conditions during the night throughout the forecast period.

Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi area) (Counties of Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka) are likely to experience cloudy morning with light rains in the morning on Tuesday and Wednesday while the rest of the days are expected to experience sunny intervals. Afternoon/Evening showers are expected over few places from Tuesday to Thursday. The rest of the forecast period is expected to have sunny intervals in the afternoon.

Northeastern (Counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo) is likely to experience mainly sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy conditions during the night for much of the forecast period. Morning rains and afternoon showers are however likely to occur over a few places on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Southeastern Lowlands (Counties of Kajiado, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos and Taita Taveta) are expected to experience morning rains over few places from Tuesday to Friday. Afternoon/Evening showers are likely over several places on Tuesday and Wednesday. The rest of the afternoons are expected to experience sunny intervals.

The Coastal Strip (counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale): is expected to experience morning and afternoon showers over few places from Tuesday to Thursday. Nights are expected to be mainly partly cloudy although showers may occur over few places on Tuesday and Wednesday.
