Cali has BIG news!
In my mums absence on social media posts she’s been busy working on our 501c3 sanctuary, licensing & permits in the United States!
Surprisingly, meerkats are one of the most strictly regulated animals in the world. We have to hold licenses and permits from North Carolina Fish and Game, U.S.D.A., and Fish and Wildlife Service. With all of that comes big fees & spending to get the sanctuary up & running and in order for me to be accepted through US customs. Progress Report-!!! Wait for it…. YES! We are OFFICIALLY a 501c3 USDA LICENSED CLASS C EXHIBITION! Mum had to fly to the United States, flights delayed due to weather, having to book flights, hotels on the spot- with no scheduled planning because timeline expectations were unknown! She had my enclosure built by a contractor in NYC, drove the enclosure down to the sanctuary site in NC. Had volunteers & paid contractors help install U.S.D.A. regulated fencing, injurious wildlife barriers, climate controlled environments…. Everything required for the APHIS USDA Inspection based on my species 🐾. She slept in friends attics and guest rooms, working & installing fence posts from sun up to sun down. But- it’s not over 😟 we are applying for ZAA accreditation from the Zoo Association of America. This is one of the hardest applications mum has ever submitted! It took a week just to submit the application itself, hundreds of questions that required separate submissions in pdf form, schematics, photographs … the list goes on!! 🤪. Please help, donate & share to help me make it to the USA. https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/calis-corner
