Caudectomy on Nima 🐕🐾
Nima is a fun and bright little Catahoula Mix. Unfortunately, she had a severe chemical burn on her tail that caused her some serious injuries, so I was forced to amputate a part of her tail. In the Vet world we call this process Caudectomy. This is quite a common practice for some dog breeds like Rottweilers or Dobermans. However, in Nimas case, it was due to a traumatic lesion and I had to perform a therapeutic caudectomy.
The healing process was long and complicated, as little Nima kept chewing up her own tail, which again led me to amputate a second time.
With great care, regular bandage changes, and lots of love, Nimas tail began to heal and now she is back to her old chirpy self.
