Please read regarding changes to travelling to the EU with pets. These changes come into effect from tomorrow.
โ๏ธURGENT NOTICE REGARDING PETS TRAVEL
In the last few days there has been urgent briefing note from the British Government regarding Pets travelling to the EU with EU pet passports.
From the 22nd April 2026, no new EU pet passports can be issued to pet owners who don't live primarily in the EU. Also, where the owner does not have their main residence in the EU but they have already obtained a EU pet passport, this document will no longer be consider valid for travel, and pets will require an AHC (to be issued less than 10 days prior to their travel) for travel into the EU.
Owners who habitually reside in the EU and have their main residence in the EU will not be affected and can continue to use an EU pet passport.
We understand that several pet owners are going out with their pets with DFDS on Wednesday morning, and several more at the weekend. We strongly advise these owners to contact their vets as soon as possible.
We also believe that the limit for pets travelling is now going to be 5 pets per vehicle rather than 5 pets per person.
We will try and let you know of any further clarifications as we receive them from Natural Environment or the APHA agency in the UK, and if you need any further advice, please contact us.
