I LIED.

We do, in fact, still have a woman available.

Her name is Pearl, and apparently, she's decided to make this as difficult as possible.

Pearl has been in foster care since February and has received exactly zero applications.

Zero.

Not one.

Not even from someone who accidentally clicked the wrong button.

The crazy part? Pearl absolutely loves people. She's affectionate, loyal, and happiest when she's spending time with her humans.

Her challenge is that Pearl would prefer to be the center of your universe. She is not interested in sharing her home with other dogs or cats, and she has made her feelings on that very clear.

Because we are committed to setting her up for success, Pearl will soon be heading to a four-week board-and-train program with Lead The Way Training. The goal is to continue building on her skills, increase her confidence, and give her future adopter every possible tool for success.

What we'd really love is for someone to step up now and start following her journey.

Pearl isn't a project.

She's a dog who deserves a chance.

A dog who has waited since February.

A dog who keeps getting overlooked while watching others leave for their forever homes.

By the time Pearl graduates from training, we'd love to have an adopter ready and waiting to welcome her home.

Let's prove that the perfect home for Pearl is out there.

Please share. Her person may not even know they're looking for her yet.

EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!

Wolfie's graduation day is coming!

After five weeks at Loose Leash Canine, Mr. Wolfie will soon be released back into society with a whole lot of training, a whole lot of progress, and, unfortunately, absolutely nowhere to go.

We would love nothing more than for Wolfie to go straight from training into the forever home he deserves.

Wolfie is a 70-pound Husky mix and a senior gentleman who has spent much of his life living primarily outdoors. Because of that, many parts of indoor life have been completely new to him. Thanks to his trainer's hard work and Wolfie's willingness to learn, he's made tremendous progress.

Trainer update:

โœ… Zero accidents

โœ… Excellent crate manners

โœ… Calm and relaxed in his crate

โœ… Thrives with routine and structure

โœ… Enjoys exploring and sniffing the yard

โœ… Low prey drive and has done well around cats

Wolfie isn't looking for a busy household or a dog park social calendar.

He's looking for a retirement home.

A fenced yard would be ideal. One of his favorite activities is simply wandering around, following scents, and enjoying the fresh air. Give him a comfortable place to nap, a predictable routine, and people who understand that trust takes time, and you'll have a loyal companion.

Wolfie would likely do best as an only dog or with another calm, mature dog. Young dogs looking for a wrestling partner need not apply.

His trainer will also be available for follow-up guidance to help ensure a successful transition into his new home.

After all this work, we'd love to see Wolfie skip the return trip to the sanctuary and head straight into the next chapter of his life.

A home.

A couch.

A yard.

And people to call his own.

We are officially fresh out of available women, but the good news is that we still have a nice selection of older men.

Today's featured bachelor is Happy.

Now, before everyone starts lining up, let's manage expectations. Happy is a senior dog, which means he comes with a little baggage, a few gripes, and a chip on his shoulder that he's been carrying around long enough that it probably has sentimental value.

That's the beauty of senior dogs. They aren't factory reset. They arrive with stories, opinions, and a very clear idea of how they think things should be done.

We love them all anyway, except Mouse. Mouse is pure evil; I'm kidding, mostly.

Happy is actually a pretty chill little guy. Think Arthur Fonzarelli. Cool, confident, and not particularly concerned about what anyone thinks. And yes, I realize some of you have no idea who that is. I'm 57 and proud.

Happy would do best with a fenced yard because putting a leash on him is a bit like lassoing a cow. Eventually, he'll cooperate if he decides he likes you. The problem is that it's entirely his decision, and even then, the jury is still out.

If you're looking for a young dog who hangs on your every word, keep scrolling.

If you're looking for a grumpy little older man with character, opinions, and enough personality for three dogs, Happy may be your guy.

Happy Tails for Penny!

Last week, Penny the Dachshund/Basset Hound headed off to her 30-day foster-to-adopt home, and all reports are wonderful. She is settling in beautifully and being absolutely showered with love.

Do you remember Penny's story?

When Penny's owner entered long-term care, a caring neighbor reached out to us for help. The owner's son was making arrangements to have Penny euthanized because he didn't know what else to do. Unfortunately, situations like this happen more often than most people realize.

Thankfully, Penny had a hero in her corner. Her neighbor stepped up, got her to the wonderful team at Indraloka Animal Sanctuary to make sure her vaccines were current, and helped get her safely into the sanctuary.

Just one week after arriving, approved adopters came to meet her. It didn't take long for Penny to work her magic.

Now she's settling into a new chapter filled with comfy beds, loving people, and all the attention she deserves. Instead of her story ending because her owner could no longer care for her, Penny's story is continuing exactly the way it shouldโ€”with love, safety, and a family of her own.

This is why we do what we do. Sometimes all it takes is one neighbor willing to make a phone call and one rescue willing to say "yes."

Congratulations, Penny. We're rooting for you every step of the way.

What's the world coming to?

A mailman walked right up to our dogs at PetSmart today and nobody barked.

Not one warning. Not one complaint. Not even a strongly worded woof.

That's what happens when you adopt a senior dog. They've retired from neighborhood security and are now focused on making friends.

Come meet our surprisingly mailman-approved seniors at PetSmart Wilkes-Barre until 3 PM.
