Happy holidays everyone! I wish you all beautiful days ahead, full of laughter and love (and dogs) however you might be celebrating or not celebrating.

Oh well that’s my heart, my golden retriever. Pontiac was trained to be a guide dog, but he had a bum leg, which got him out of that program. Whenever I come home late from work at night, I come up to the house and here’s this big golden head in the window on the left stairway landing, looking out and waiting for me. I sit down on the couch and he’ll bring me one of his dead snowmen. A friend sent him a stuffed snowman one time and it just became his passion. So then a friend sent him a whole box of snowmen. We have regular snowstorms in the living room when he shakes all the stuffing out.

Make your dog happy this holiday season by following these easy steps.

1. Maintain your regular walk schedule. Your schedule might be irregular in these coming weeks with parties and days off but your dog will appreciate consistency in their walking schedule.

2. Hide away safely any chocolate treats, cooked bones and other holiday temptations from your dog. Access to these is one of the main reasons people go to vets during the holiday season. They may not understand it now but their insides will thank you!

3. Plug in your Adaptil diffuser if your dog is experiencing increased anxiety over christmas decorations, thunderstorms or fireworks. This might help soothe them.

4. Make sure to make lots of time for hugs and cuddles. In the end, what your dog craves most is quality time with YOU.
