This page has been dormant for a long time and a lot has happened since my last update. In just one year we lost both Lola (aged 16.5) and spot (one month shy of her 17th birthday) gained a stray that adopted us, Mika (grey tabby around 1.5 years old) who also gave birth to 6 amazingly beautiful kittens (all of whom found loving homes) and then spayed and stayed with us until she was tragically killed by a car in June. Throughout this time We also got adopted by a huge orange male, we call him Loni. He's probably around 10 years old and has lived outdoors all his life after running away from the home that adopted him. After Mika was gone he got closer. He now has his own house on our porch but also gets inside and sleeps on the guestroom bed. Guess it's his room now :)
I have never not had cats in my home and even though Loni does get in he is mostly outside doing his own thing ruling his kingdom (the entire neighborhood) so my home feels empty. My heart is torn. I miss Lola, Spot and Mika every second but we gave them all the best care we could. Lola and Spot lived to be almost 17, moved with us by plane and car over 3 countries and had a great life. they both only saw a vet 5 times throughout their life, mostly in the end for travel vaccinations. they were healthy, happy, had plenty of good food and toys and even got to experience snow and play outside at age 15 (!).
