SHOCKING PARROT CASE! 🐦🚨
You won't believe how this happened... 😱😨
RARE TRAUMATIC BEAK AVULSION IN PARROT 🐦⚠️
A case that tested both clinical skill and innovation.
This avian patient suffered a complete traumatic detachment of the upper beak (rhamphotheca) after it got entrapped in a cage bar, resulting in avulsion from the premaxillary bone — an extremely rare and delicate injury 💔
🔬 Due to the inability to suture bony structures, we adopted an unconventional but effective management plan at Prime Vet Care:
🔹 Realigned and externally stabilized the beak using medical-grade tape
🔹 Fabricated a custom restraint collar to restrict movement and minimize stress
🔹 Intensive post-operative monitoring, fluid therapy, and nutritional support
📈 The bird is now showing gradual improvement, with signs of vascular recovery in the beak and return of prehension ability.
🩺 Clinical Insight:
Such trauma underscores the importance of safe cage design — small gaps or sharp welds can lead to life-altering injuries in birds with naturally curious behavior.
📢 Avian caregivers: Regularly inspect enclosures and avoid narrow or pointed structures that may entrap beaks or claws.
