“Just One Grape Can Take a Life!”

The exact toxin in grapes and raisins hasn’t yet been identified.
However, it is known to cause acute kidney (renal) failure in dogs.

The toxic reaction seems to vary — some dogs may eat one grape and get sick, while others may eat several without immediate symptoms, but the risk remains very high.

🧠 2. What Happens Inside the Body
The toxins damage the kidney cells, leading to:
* Loss of urine production.
* Buildup of waste in the blood.
* Electrolyte imbalance
* Dehydration
* Organ shutdown.

🚨 3. Symptoms of Grape or Raisin Poisoning
Symptoms usually appear within 6–12 hours of ingestion:
a. Vomiting or diarrhea (often with pieces of grape visible).
b. Lethargy or weakness
c. Loss of appetite
d. Abdominal pain
e. Dehydration (dry gums, excessive panting)
f. Trembling or shaking
In later stages: reduced or no urine output, which signals kidney failure.

🚫 Reduced or no urine output — a sign of kidney failure

🩺 Immediate Action:
* Do not wait! Call your veterinarian immediately.
* If eaten recently (within 1–2 hours), your vet may induce vomiting.
* IV fluids and blood tests may be required to save the kidneys.
