What should you expect from your horses first equine massage therapy session?

I offer a unique personal service to all owners. Regardless of the type of horse or size of the yard I offer the same time and experience to all owners. The small family pony is as important to me as the high performing racehorse.

A session will usually take at least an hour but usually longer when taking into account dynamic evaluations and discussions with the owner. 

I aim to get out to all owners within 2-3 weeks of initially making contact. For me quality is over quantity and I don't do a 6 week wait list or similar.

Charles comparison photos 7 days post massage and k-tape session. Charles presented with tension across his back and was quite unsettled at the start of the session. When tension builds up through the thoracic and lumbar spine areas and it's corresponding muscles, many horses will hollow or tighten the tummy or abdominal muscles in response. Following successful softening and releasing of these muscles some horses can even appear to have gained weight post massage!

One week later his owner reports he is much more relaxed and mellow to deal with in the stable. He is moving really well in his ridden work and finding working into an outline a lot easier than he had been previously.

As the mornings get chilly ❄️❄️ The Epiony heat pad is welcome addition to my kit!

Did you know the heat Pad can be used on the upper cervical vertebrae areas to encourage relaxation and reduce pain and tension. Used alongside manual massage techniques this can help to encourage relaxation and softening of the muscles in this sensitive area. Horses can carry significant tension in this area, this can be work related or from a past injury such as pulling back when tied up.
