We have the loveliest news to share! Louie was adopted 💙 He has a new brother, Bob, and a wonderful family to take care of him.

Bob’s family found him as a kitten in a farm yard in a bad way. He had a respiratory condition, one lung and a few other injuries. They rescued him and he’s had lots of vet visits but now he's flying it 💜 He stays indoors, on vet recommendations, and lately, his family felt that he's been a bit down and he needed a friend 🥺

It took a few days but it looks like they’re going be great friends and, just like Bob, Louie will be really well taken care of.

Isn’t that just wonderful? The two boys, who look so alike, who have both been through so much, and have their own slightly less-abled bodies - Bob with one lung and Louie with three legs - they seem to have been destined to look after each other 💙💜

We love this photo from Annette, Louie’s new Mammy. It really is a perfect screensaver 😻

Happy Sunday with lots of love to everyone from Seán 💜

Seán moved from the Intensive Cat Care Unit to the Cattery a few days ago and he loves his fresh air and occasional sunshine ☀️

His eyes still need careful cleaning and eye drops at least twice a day but he’s just the best big old guy and it’s lovely to see him looking so well and happy 😻

Maeve 🤍

She’s gone. My grumpy old lady, my baby girl. She hid it so well, but I knew in my heart something was wrong.

She arrived on St. Stephen’s Day, 2kg, frightened and badly injured. Ear-tipped, so someone had once cared enough to neuter her, but she’d been fending for herself for a long time. A kind family noticed her, worried about her, and called me.

She was semi-feral and made sure I knew it. Hisses, flat ears, the occasional swipe, though never once with her claws out. All paw, no follow-through. But when I put my hand out to her head, she’d shove into it. Oftentimes she’d forget to tell me off and purr, and every single time it melted me.

I kept saying I knew something was wrong, and I kept going back. A leg fracture. Breathing that worried me. A deformed sternum. Asthma that wasn’t responding to steroids. And finally, over the Easter holidays, an ultrasound that told us what her body had been carrying - lesions on her liver, almost certainly tumours.

She was sedated for the scan because she was scared, and I wasn’t having her frightened. She let me hold her, because even at the end, even with all her tortie hissiness, I was the one she trusted.

She went quickly. Held and loved. And with the support and care of many wonderful vets doing their best for her.

This week I said goodbye to three cats. This work breaks your heart sometimes. But I don’t regret a single minute of it. Even if all I can do is give an old cat a warm bed and a lot of love at the end of their life, that matters. That’s enough.

Thank you for the support you give me. It means everything. 🤍

It was an honour to be trusted by you, Maeve. Safe travels, beautiful girl.

Thank you so very much for the donations of cat milk for the rescue cats here. We had such a lovely heartwarming response to it and the cats are very grateful 😻

Some was very kindly dropped in to the vets for us, one lovely person did an Amazon order (thank you, whoever you are) and other wonderful people sent a few bob so we could head to the supermarket ourselves and pick some up.

Former foster cat, Pammy, left her donation into the vets. She takes her milk delivery duties very seriously and wanted us to assure you all that every drop will be accounted for. 🐾🥛 Isn’t she the cutest 😂♥️

Seán - big, gentle, toothless and yellow-stained, and utterly convinced he deserves to be waited on hand and foot. Today he got exactly that, thanks to the wonderful Marley, who gave him the full spa treatment with a pink brush and all the love in the world. 🐾

Marley came to visit with her mum Marie Glosna House; our incredible right-hand woman and the backbone of this little sanctuary, and with such a natural kindness with animals, Marley made Seán feel like the most important cat in the world. He loved every minute of it, the big old gentle puddin’. 🖤🤍

Louie is still hoping he’s the little guy that someone needs 💙

He has been through so much - the awful wounds and badly fractured leg he had when he came here never affected the sweet, sweet nature he has. I have never seen him annoyed - he’s always happy! He purrs loudly as soon as he sees you or one of his cat friends.

His injuries are healed and his amputated leg doesn’t hold him back but for his own safety, he needs an indoor home (or one with a catio 😻) He’s so easygoing, great with other cats and dogs and loves any attention he gets but he doesn’t demand it. He really is a perfect little guy.

He’s about a year old now, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and hoping there is someone just as special as he is that would love Louie in their life 💙

Fabulous new boarding cattery opening soon! Located close to Portarlington and Monasterevin and run by an amazing lady who truly loves animals and has over 20 years experience working with them.

This cat hotel looks absolutely amazing, check out a couple of the photos on her page. Limited number of boarding suites so be sure to book in early as no doubt, it will be in very high demand!

Best of luck with your fabulous new business, Mewtopia Cathotel; from what Ak.petcare have told me, it will be the coolest place for cats to stay 💖

Still no home offer for Louie 😢

Please share 💙

Louie, the bravest little guy, is now ready to find his forever home 💙

Louie came here with horrendous wounds and a badly broken leg. He was injured when he sought shelter in a van engine and the owner didn’t realise he was there until his engine cut out. Luckily for Louie, the mechanic who came to fix the van is an incredibly kind gentleman who loves cats. It took two days to rescue Louie, they couldn’t reach him, but could hear him crying out, too scared to move but hurt and hungry.

Eventually, Louie went into a trap. His wounds were deep and infected. His badly broken leg couldn’t be operated on until the infection cleared and even then, amputation would be the only option left.

A plan was made to manage his pain as best we could and give him a few days with antibiotics and intensive wound care but if we didn’t see an improvement, or it all got too much for him, we would not leave him suffer 😔

Thankfully, Louie is the sweetest little guy and was a wonderful patient. With help, his wounds healed quickly. With time and care, he grew strong enough for surgery.

So now, after all that, Louie deserves the best forever home 💙 He is good with dogs, would love the company of another cat, and needs an indoor home because of his three legs and penchant for hiding in car engines 🫣

If you would love to love Louie, please get in touch. An adoption form can be found on our website. Link in the comments 💙

Sometimes, it’s just watching them through the camera to make sure they’re doing ok.

Cats are incredible at hiding pain or discomfort; it’s a survival skill, and they are the experts.
I worry about Maeve. Is she ok, physically and mentally? Am I meeting her welfare needs?

She’s an old lady with healed physical injuries, her recovery has been complicated, and I hope I’m doing enough for her. Sometimes she’s withdrawn, quiet, or aloof.

And then I check in without her knowing, and she’s curled up to her hot water bottle giving full “life is good” vibes. And then I know I’m doing the right thing. Even if I haven’t figured it all out yet, and knowing that is enough.

Thank you for helping me help Maeve, and all the high-needs cats that come here. This community, and the support we have, means everything. 🥰
