I am incredibly sad but I am also incredibly angry about the damage that has been done to our sport and industry by Gordon Elliott. I love horses and I love training racehorses. My entire life is governed by what makes the horses in my care happy. I’ve worked hard to have success and train winners but I work even harder to ensure any animal in my care is happy, healthy and knows they are loved. Extra hours in the field, beach trips, companions...there is nothing I won’t adapt or try to suit an individual horses requirement.
Over the years I’ve had owners prefer to send a horse to one of the “big boys”. It’s disappointing but I take it on the chin and keep working to aspire to do what they do. And today I wonder for what?
My disappointment and anger is further compounded by the deafening silence from the supposed industry leaders in Ireland. This isn’t good enough. Our “Sport of Kings” is on a dangerous path right now and blinkered silence is not the answer. I may not have a lorry load of contenders for Cheltenham or Punchestown, Ascot or Galway...but I do have a yard of horses and owners who know they are cared for, loved and above all else respected
