Glenard Dogs

Glenard Dogs Join us at Glenard Dogs for Dog Sports Workshops, for the pet dog industry. Mantrailing is the ultimate team building experience for you and your dog!

Your dog is your best friend .... at Glenard Dogs, we like to think that every day with them is a gift, so make the most of it! Using the power of your dog's nose (and scent), you will work as a team to locate a hidden (missing) person. At the beginning of the search, the dog will sniff the scent article that the hidden person has touched and the handler/dog team follow the trail on a long leash t

o find them. As the handler, you will learn to read your dog's body language and cues to sucessfully follow the trail to finding the hidden person.

TULSA PACK ATHLETICS, an open minded approach hosted by Jerri Scherff and Mattison Skoog is the first one of its kind in the world….. and it is happening right here in Ireland!!

🐾Tulsa Pack Athletics an Open Minded approach was started by Jerri in 2021 and has gained world wide recognition with the largest online following of any female trainer in history.

🐕 Jerri has nearly 20 years experience in veterinary medicine and is CPDT-KA certified. She believes in making training affordable for all and acknowledges we have a massive influence on the lives of dogs by working together.

🐕 Mattison has an increasing online influence for training pet dogs with her social media platforms and programmes for all levels of dog trainers as well as many free courses. She is CPDT-KA and CDBC certified. Her methods are reward based and emphasis focuses on natural consequences of behaviour modification.

⭐️ Together, these women have shaped dog training beyond strict methodology and focus on empathy and accountability for all involved.

This is a very important conference that should not be missed if you are anyway involved in training dogs and want to understand the how and why behind the success of Tulsa Pack Athletics and the Open Minded Approach.

I am super excited to post this! I think this might be the first GAK9 certificate on our lovely island. It is the first of many that will come I hope!

Super proud of my boy, K9 Isaac (Martina Bermingham) ❤️.

Huge thank you to Anna Pleban (Follow Dogs) who answered our call to come to Ireland and work with us. Susan O'Neill of Scent Dogs Ireland - thank you for the trail!

Woohoo, it's the weekend! 🎉 Time to get your trailing boots on 🐾🐾👣!

If you’ve time on your hands, I've got some super book recs for you:
- Red Dog Rising, Jeff's autobiography with (and for) his trusted K9 partner, Ronin.
- The Straightest Path (a.k.a. the trailing bible). My copy's covered in post-it notes 🤓
- Tactical Tracker Teams. This is for tactical teams working in dangerous deployments. Focus is on the team, safety first and understanding “alerts”.
- The Tao of Trailing, where trailing philosophy meets trailing practice.

Grab 'em at your favourite online bookstores!
If that’s not enough - Jeff's webinars are the real deal (the scentpools one = MIND. BLOWN.). Follow Jeff’s socials for details on those!

"Numerous proper trailing harnesses are available. They need not be made of leather or nylon. Rather, then need to cause the dog no pain or damage while still allowing the handler to hang on with the lead. A good harness takes all of the weight from the long lead and distributes it evenly across the chest of the dog – similar to a draft-horse-style harness. The best harnesses I have seen incorporate large breastplates made of a fairly soft, non-abrasive material” (J Schettler "K9 Trailing: The Straightest Path").

If you've been bitten by the mantrailing bug, you do not want to miss this!

Here's how (and why) I found GAK9 ....

Todays post is from Sarah, The Caring Canine Coach.
Many dogs mask pain well, which means the signs that something is wrong can be incredibly subtle, and easy to miss if you’re not looking closely.
I experienced this first-hand with my own girl. She’d hurt her back, but on the surface, she was still acting like her usual self, eating, walking, even playing. But I noticed her tail wasn’t quite right. She was holding it slightly crooked, and every now and then her back would twitch in a way that wasn’t normal for her. It was only because I know her so well, and because I’m trained to spot these little things, that I picked up on it.
And it’s a powerful reminder of just how important it is to know what’s normal for your dog. Have a look at their normal posture, movement and expressions, so you can quickly spot when something’s off.
The earlier you notice these subtle changes; the sooner you can get your dog checked by a vet. Prompt treatment can make all the difference to their comfort, recovery, and long-term wellbeing.

Just an update on the GAK9 workshop with Jeff Schettler in September.
All handler tickets are sold out and confirmed.
If you are waitlisted, it is now unlikely that a handler spot will become available (if ticket(s) become available, they will be offered in order of waitlist).

There are a handful of spectator tickets left - please grab them while you can.
GAK9 workshops are small to maximise the experience for those attending.

This is Jeff's first and only workshop in Ireland in 2025.
