A bittersweet post from me! The time has come for me to move on from Proud Paws to a new adventure! 🐩🐩
Over the last few years I have been honoured to take care of your dogs and become friends with so many of you ❤
I'm delighted to say I will soon be styling at the beautiful Fur's Best Friend Luxury Dog Spa and Daycare in Ballsbridge. (01-525-2840)
You are of course all welcome to follow me there and have your dogs enjoy the absolute pinacle of doggy relaxation and care. Trust that I truly believe in the great experience your puppy will have. When booking just ask for Dermot 😉

Finally a Merry Christmas for an exhausted dog groomer and his own neglected, overgrown poodle. Lost my sanity around the 18th December. Hopefully get in back in time for January reopening 🤣🤣 Thank you all for trusting me to care for your pups this year ❤ It's a responsibility I dont take lightly and thank you for all the generous gifts and treats over the holiday season 🍾🍾 see you in 2023 😁

Hi everyone. Im just back from a few days off and I was forbidden from bringing the work phone away with me so apologies to anyone left waiting but the break was truly needed!
I was dropping this beautiful boy back to the UK. Rafa the poodle stayed with me for the summer while we campaigned him to his Irish Champion title! Many of you know him from barking at you as you walked up the driveway. He is truly not sorry about it 😛

Back to business and I am booked up for the next 2 weeks. Please allow some time as always for an app and prebook.
Also I will still not be taking new clients at the time.

Hi guys just a quick note about bookings at the moment.
I am fully booked for August at the moment and will NOT be taking any new customers.
I have always advised prebooking apps and if you havent prebooked then Ive always said to give me 2 weeks notice.
Yes its hot. But no, I cant fit in your dog today...

I understand your pups may be suffering a bit in the heat but this heatwave will pass. Keep them cool. Keep them hydrated. There is very little I can do in a grooming session, even if I take them bald, that will make the heat much more tolerable for them.

Also the fact remains that this week it is just too hot to work safely. Luckily it coincided with a rare few days off for me, had I dogs booked in I would have had to cancel them. The risk of heatstroke is just too great.
Your dog wont die from missing a grooming appointment. But it could die in the hands of an unwise groomer who doesnt stick to canine safety standards.

The reality of doodles! Be sure you are willing to invest the time and money!

Did you know the average grooming bill for doodle breed could be around £585 annually?
Please consider this when you are selecting a dog.
Matting is not always obvious.
It's advisable to brush and then comb the coat so you are not brushing over the problem matting.
Doodles have one of the most challenging coat types and are usually first time dog owners choice due to the 'hypoallergenic' nature of the hair. Every dog moults. The difference is wool coats shedding stays within the coat, hence the need for extensive brushing. This explains the matting. Please ask us for free advice and book your dog in at regular 4 to 6 week intervals if you want to keep a long style.
