Hi all, Prof Robert Shiel in UCD would like our help with the survey below
Antimicrobial Resistance is a major concern in both human and veterinary medicine. Although public health concerns tend to centre on antimicrobial use and resistance in farm animals, antimicrobial use in small animals is also of importance given the close contact that occurs between owners and their pets. With this in mind, we are conducting a student summer project to gather some preliminary data on antimicrobial prescribing in Small Animal practice in Ireland. Please take the time to complete this short survey which should take only 5-10 minutes of your time. All responses are entirely anonymous.

Update on vets helping humans
The HSE would like to know about any veterinary practices in the South/Southwest region with ventilators or anaesthetic machines with ventilators. Hopefully they’ll never be needed, but it’s no harm to have them checked out just in case. Practices will be reimbursed for any equipment donated.
Please don’t contact the hospitals directly, PM this page for the contact details
Thanks 🙏🏻

Hi all, a colleague has had her local nursing home contact her in tears because they’re out of face masks, gloves and disinfectant wipes.
She can sort them, but there must be others absolutely desperate. Aer Lingus are flying to China today to source PPE and bring it home. In the meantime it’s heartbreaking to think of our most vulnerable citizens suffering.
- Phone your local nursing home and see are they in dire straits
- Do a stock take of PPE and see if you can spare any. We are high risk ourselves so don’t leave yourselves short
- Face masks and gloves are urgently required
- Disinfectant wipes - or Trigene or whatever with a spray bottle, instructions and some blue roll
- Hand sanitiser
Thanks so much and again apologies for hijacking the Clinical Society page
Stay safe, Suzanne
