Did you know - some breeds have an extra toe!! This is known as the DOUBLE DEW CLAW

Bernese Mountain Dogs, Great Pyrennes, Mastiff are known to have an extra digit on the hind feet. The extra dew claw is a result of evolution to help give better grip in snow, ice and scaling mountains 🏔️

The extra toe is totally normal and requires regular trimming and maintenance. As the nail does not get as much contact with the ground, the nails can very easily become overgrown, causing discomfort to the dog.

The presence of extra hind digits is not an accident of genetics—it’s a reflection of their working heritage. 🐕

This morning was baby Luna’s first ever groom and you would think she had done it 50 times already!

This is why I love this breed so much (I’m not biased😅) despite their size, they are so chilled and love cuddles & kisses 😘💕
