The weeks leading up to Christmas are the biggest shopping weeks of the year. Stocking our homes with the latest electronic gadgets, computers, jewellery and must-have accessories is the norm, unfortunately it provides thieves with the perfect incentive to commit burglaries.
Here are a few tips to keep your good and property secure during the festive season:-
🎄 Arm your security system every time you leave work or your home.
🎄Festive lighting - A common mistake of many festive decorators is to feed extension cables through partially open windows, criminals know to look for this vulnerability, use solar or battery operated lighting or outdoor socket.
🎄Keep gifts out of view and make sure someone is around to receive deliveries.
🎄Carefully dispose of gift wrapping and packaging – Fold boxed so you are not advertising your new contents to prospective buglers
🎄Keep curtains or blinds closed at night and make sure valuable items are out of sight
🎄If you are planning to be away make sure you plan ahead. Cancel any milk deliveries. Have a neighbour park in your driveway to give the impression someone is home.
🎄Keep lights or the radio on when you leave the home. This will give the impression your home is occupied
🎄Social Media – Don’t check in. Avoid sharing too much about where you are, where your going or when you’ll be back.
