🚨 Attention, attention! 🚨
This summer, our boarding service is taking a break – no, we haven’t disappeared, we’re just gearing up for something BIG! 🎬🐾
We’re part of an exciting (and still secret 🤫) plan – spoiler alert: we’re not moving to Mars... yet. 🚀
🙏 Thank you for your trust, for many many requests (especially from catahoula owners) – we're taking a little summer break to recharge (hahahaha NO.), so we can come back with something truly awesome! 💥💡
We won’t be able to welcome guests this season 🐶🏖️, but we’ll see you again in the fall – until then: stay tuned! 😉🌟

Hard to be "just a pet". Good article, respect.

"We don't care about papers because he will just be a pet"
"We're not looking for a show dog, so it doesn't matter if the parents are titled. We just want a good family pet"

I hear this all too often, people assuming that since their dog will be 'just a pet', the lineage of the parents is not important. I'd argue the exact opposite. Have you ever considered what we expect of a dog that is 'just' a pet? Being a pet is hard. The dog must learn to adapt to a human's world, often with no more than 8 weeks of basic obedience, at best. Rules are inconsistent (I mean, I train dogs and I know I am inconsistent at times; add a whole family with various levels of training and it's not surprised that the pup is confused. For instance, does 'down' mean 'don't jump up' or 'lie down' or 'get off the sofa'?). He needs to tolerate days in a row of doing little as the family is busy with work and school, and then be well-behaved on the weekend when they decide to take him along to the farmer's market or for a hike. He must tolerate neighbor kids running up to pet him, friends coming over for dinner, the handyman doing repairs - all with a steady reserve.

To be a great pet, a dog needs a rock-solid temperament, a high level of tolerance for all our human foibles, and a loving but discriminating character. To get all of that requires good breeding with parents that have proven themselves trainable and stable. Because being 'just a pet' may be one of the harder things we ask a dog to do.

Edited to add: This post was specifically created because of my frustration with backyard breeders who produce many litters without testing health or temperament or proving the dog is breed quality. And the people who purchase from those breeders, thus supporting them. I fully support adoption/rescue for those who are able and willing to do that and regularly refer people to rescue groups in my area (not to mention the years I've volunteered at shelters; I've fallen in love with many an mixed breed dog or unregistered purebred). Mutts are a bit like a box of chocolates - you never quite know what you are going to get. That works well for some families, not for others.

And, yes, regardless of where your dog comes from, training will make him or her a better companion.

tl;dr purebred =/= well bred

There are catahoulas who became an adult early (in mind) and there are ones, who needs more time. Eloise is still a puppy, who needs to learn a lot. 😁

𝗝𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘁 💚

Jagan’s name comes from a magical tale – a world where dragons possess unique powers. It’s not hard to draw a parallel with our beloved breed: their very existence feels almost mystical, and understanding them is a true challenge. The path to harmony with them is rarely simple – but for those who find it, it becomes a deep, lifelong bond.

We’re lucky to have owners who lead the way with patience and determination. They don’t back down when things get tough. With love, dedication, and resilience, they raise our puppies – no matter what life throws at them.

𝗝𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗝𝘂ly 𝟭𝟰𝘁𝗵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭. (Kumandra litter - Hiru x Jugo)
Nearly four years old now, he has proven time and again that he is an exceptional representative of his breed. His appearance alone speaks volumes: in 2023, an American judge recognized his athletic and agile physique in Mitrov, where he reached the podium in the largest class – bringing immense pride to the Diversity’s team.

But it wasn’t just about looks – 𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗼. He won the bloodtrail competition, and his obedience routine won the audience’s heart – the harmony between him and his handler was a joy to watch!

𝗩𝗶𝗸𝗶, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 – 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲!

This year, Jagan has taken on a new role: 𝗵𝗲’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗯𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 – and it seems this challenge suits him just as well. It's a joy to witness. This breed isn’t for everyone – but Jagan is exactly where he belongs.

𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱. 💚

The Importance of Mental Stimulation for Working Dogs

Mental stimulation is just as vital for dogs as physical exercise — especially for working breeds. These intelligent, driven animals are often bred for specific tasks like herding, guarding, retrieving, or scent work. Without the opportunity to engage their minds and instincts, they can quickly become bored, frustrated, and even develop behavioral problems.

Providing mental challenges through activities like training exercises, puzzle toys, scent games, or problem-solving tasks helps satisfy their innate needs. For working dogs, mental work is not just entertainment; it is essential for their overall well-being. It keeps their minds sharp, strengthens the bond with their handler, and channels their energy in a positive direction.

Allowing dogs to use their natural instincts — such as searching, herding, or retrieving — doesn't just make them happier, it makes them healthier and more balanced. Especially for high-energy breeds, regular mental enrichment can prevent stress, anxiety, and destructive behavior.

In short, a well-stimulated mind is key to a happy, fulfilled dog — and absolutely critical for the success and happiness of any working dog.

Leopárdkutya – Minden tekintetben meglepő!

Még Európában is ritkának mondható kutyafajta, a Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog mindössze néhány egyedet számláló magyarországi populációja a tengerentúlról hozza fényes hírnevét. Ezt a rendkívül változatos külsővel rendelkező, ritka fajtát Magyarországon egyre többen csak leopárdkutyaként ismerik.

A magyar kutyás életben több fronton is egyre ismertebbé válik a fajta, amiről lelkes magyar fiatalok gondoskodnak.
