8 days of food prepped for my 2 dogs. More proof that each dog is an individual and you should feed the dog in front of you:

Based on the size of the containers you’d think I have a big dog and a small dog. In reality my dogs are only 5kg (11lbs) different in size. My boy Tito (larger dog) requires 4% of his body weight or more per day to maintain his weight. My girl Indy should only eat 2-2.5% of her body weight or she starts gaining weight.

Up we go! Thankfully the dogs can sort of pull me up the stairs when we’re hiking! 😅

Manganese is one of the nutrients that is often lacking in a home prepared diet. I give my dogs green lipped mussels from New Zealand which are rich in manganese and are very good for the joints.

Do you feed your dogs bone broth? It’s easy to make at home and has so many health benefits. Bone broth is full of collagen and glucosamine. It’s great for joints, gut health, as a way to add moisture to a diet, can be used to get nutrients into sick dogs, and a myriad of other health benefits.

Making it at home is easy. Just fill a slow cooker with bones (I usually use oxtail or rabbit but things like chicken feet are great too), cover with water. Add Apple cider vinegar with the mother and cook for 24 hours. Then separate the broth from the meat / bones and refrigerate for 24 hours. Remove the fat layer and serve or freeze. The meat you’ve pulled out is a great topper or I often use it as a kong stuffed. Some of the cooked bones can even be ground into a bone mousse so there’s no waste!

Veggie Paws! I’ve drunk the kool-aid on making moulds! I make them from all sorts of ingredients. This one is a veggie paw from a mix of starchy and non starchy veggies. Its great because I can make them in advance and then just add them at meal times. My boy gets two of these a day and my girl gets one. Fun!

My boy LOVES fish! It’s important to make sure you’re dog gets enough oily fish which have omega 3s and omega 6s. I also prefer wild caught to farmed as a personal preference.

This is a great graphic to help you narrow down which fish to feed. You want to feed the fish in the top right as much as possible.

Remember if you get wild caught fresh fish don’t forget to freeze it for 3 weeks before feeding raw to kill any bacteria.
