A few years ago, I bought a pair of snakes labeled as ”OD SN DG“ and ”Gravel het DG“—no other info, no 66% or 50% markings. This year, when breeding them, I unexpectedly got four little ones with purple hues.

When I first got into ball pythons, the caramel gene was already infamous, so I never looked into it—let alone saw one in real life. It wasn’t until my friend RFC pointed out these might be caramels that I noticed their red eyes.
There’s never solid proof in cases like this, so I won’t outright say someone intentionally hid the caramel gene. But I Really think that Proper records and honesty are non-negotiable for all of us breeders.
Luckily, all four babies have no kinks and looking beautiful.……
