Brought with three tug-of-war toys for this American Bully Buddy when meeting him for the second time. Although American bullies were bred to be companion dogs back in 2004, its traits of characteristics cannot be totally diminished. With its direct lineage of American Pit Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier, American bullies still carry the instincts of fighting and hunting. As a typical power house, proper training, including but not limited to socialization and desensitization, needs to be conducted when younger. In buddy’s case, he appears to be possessive of resources and displays slight aggression. With his young age, this misbehavior can still be highly correctable. As a dog owner, don’t be deceived just by the ADORABLE look of a dog. In-depth study and understanding of the dog breed would be essential before ownership takes place.

Just had a short behavior training with this 7-month old American Bully, which is powerful, playful, curious and loyal. He has developed a habit of hand biting and leash biting for fun. And he appears to get aggressive when being taken the leash in his mouth, which is typical a resource guarding behavior. As American bully is powerful and can be stubborn, the desensitization of biting whatever he likes takes patience, persistence and pliancy.
