Do I need other medications when use GS441 to cure FIP?

In general, unless the cat has a secondary or underlying condition besides FIP, all prescription medications can be stopped once treatment with GS begins. However, all cats, FIP or not, can benefit from a high quality probiotic such as Fortiflora. A healthy gut is essential in fighting FIP and can help stave off so many other illnesses too.

Is it must complete 12 weeks treatment?

The 12-week treatment period is based on field trials with both GC376 and GS-441424 and is a period that allows for the maximum proportion of cures. There is no doubt that some cats are not cured even over 12 weeks and some evidence that some can be cured sooner (i.e, 8- 10 weeks). However, early cessation of treatment will always lead to a decrease in the proportion of cats that are cured, and the sooner you stop a treatment, the higher the relapse rate.
we can only go by significant and progressive improvement in signs of outward health (activity, alertness, appetite, weight gain, quality of coat) and all of the most relevant blood test values (hematocrit, white blood cell count, lymphocyte count, total protein, albumin, globulin and A:G ratio). If all indicators return to normal, you can stop and monitor if there is a relapse
Also, we suggest complete 12 weeks treatment, if possible.

How to deal with cat fever?
Don’t give your cat human medications without the explicit advice of a veterinarian! Many human medications, such as acetaminophen, can be extremely toxic to cats.

Make sure your kitty stays hydrated by ensuring that they have easy access to fresh clean water and make sure they have a comfortable place to relax.

If your cat’s fever lasts longer than 24 hours or goes above 106º F contact your vet to book an urgent appointment or visit your local emergency animal hospital.

What’s the difference between 15 mg/ml , 20 mg/ml injections vials?

In theory, there is no difference in treatment efficiency between several different concentration injections, It’s just the injection volume than efficiency; Higher concentration injection with less injecting volume.

What is Feline Infectious Peritonitis?

FIP is caused by a feline coronavirus. Almost all cats are coronavirus carriers. When cats encounter stress reaction or decreased immunity, they are easy to get sick.If the mutated coronavirus transfers from the intestinal tract to other organs and causes inflammation, it develops into FIP.

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is a disease that kills 1 in 100 to 1 in 300 of all cats under ages 3-5. The incidence can be five to 10 times greater among young cats coming from catteries and shelters. FIP is virtually 100% fatal, and there is no treatment or cure that is FDA approved. However, treatment options do exist. FIP can manifest suddenly — weeks, months or even years after initial infection. Therefore, cat lovers usually experience the heartbreak of this disease long after they have developed strong emotional bonds with their pets.

Wet FIP

Wet FIP results in fluid accumulation in body cavities such as the abdomen and chest. It causes abdominal distension and/or difficulty breathing. This fluid is often a yellow color. the fluid has a very high protein content.
Cats under 2 years old , ascites or pleural effusion was found in their body, are highly suspected of having feline infectious peritonitis.
1.Clinical symptoms of Wet FIP:rowing abdomen, and ultrasound or X-rays indicate the presence of ascites, Breathing is getting faster and faster

2.Periodic fever, persists more than 4 days (>102.5℉)

3.Weight loss,

4.Anorexia, fatigue, sleepiness,

5.A high coronavirus titer,

6.Non-regenerative anemia,

7.Increased absolute neutrophils,

8.Decreased absolute lymphocytes,

9.Decreased ALB, increased GLOB, A:G≤6,

10.Jaundice, TBIL increased, etc.

Anorexia, fatigue, sleepiness
Weight loss,
Continued widespread mesenteric lymph nodes enlargement
Non-regenerative anemia
Increased absolute neutrophils
Decreased absolute lymphocytes
Increased TP, increased GLOB, decreased ALB, A:G≤6
FCoV titer≥1:3200
Inflammatory granuloma in multiple organs
Ocular lesions (uveitis),increased TBIL, etc
Mild ascites sits around the organs in the abdomen,Jaundice

What is the virus and pathogenesis of FIP?
FCoV is a virus of the gastrointestinal tract. Most infections are either asymptomatic or cause diarrhea, especially in kittens, as maternally derived antibody wanes at between 5 and 7 weeks of age. The virus is a mutation of feline enteric coronavirus (FECV). From the gut, the virus very briefly undergoes a systemic phase, before returning to the gut where it is shed in the f***s.
The pathogenesis of FIP is complex. There is a general consensus that FIPVs arise from mutations enabling them to enter or replicate more successfully in monocytes (a type of white blood cell).
However, many aspects of virus–host interactions affecting the disease remain uncertain, such as the factors that influence disease form (wet or dry), outcome (death or resistance), and host susceptibility.

Is there an effective vaccine to prevent FIP?
In recent years, some manufacturers have developed vaccines to help in the prevention of FIP. However, many cats will have been previously exposed to the virus, so vaccination will not prevent their infection. It may be too late to protect kittens in households where the virus is present. The American Association of Feline Practitioners lists the FIP vaccine as “not recommended.”

Why are young cats affected by FIP?
The age of the cat at the time of initial FECV exposure may play an important role in whether a cat dies from FIP. Kittens usually began shedding FECV at around 9-10 weeks of age, which places their actual exposure a few days to a week earlier. The immune system of the kitten is rapidly maturing during the period between 6-16 weeks of age. Therefore, the first exposure of most cats to FIP causing mutants occurs during a time period when their immune systems are still developing. This lack of development enhances the likelihood of a FIPV mutant to gain a strong foothold into the body.
