Blind cats are truly angels. They are the sweetest, most sensitive and grateful cats. It’s as if they know they are so totally and utterly reliant on the kindness of a person to survive, after enduring life on the harsh streets of Crete. Katina is the most affectionate cat you could ever meet - she simply adores people.

Please donate to help Maria cover the costs of a replacement rescue vehicle. Her car cannot be saved and she cannot run the rescue without a vehicle.

She does several vet trips a day (because she has so many sick and disabled cats in her care) and she needs it to carry out rescues, feed colonies and pick up essential supplies.

I wish more people would take seconds or minutes out of their day to be kind to animals - slow down for a cat in the road, give a can of food to a stray, pet a cat asking for love.

Sadly, caring for stray, abandoned and neglected animals falls to the same tiny number of overworked and exhausted rescuers. If everyone did their part - even just a little of effort given to help a cat, the world would be a very different place and better for cats and humans.

I have over 200 cats at my rescue in Crete and for most of these - other people could have stepped in and done much, much more to help them and sooner. Some of these cats have even been physically abused by people or left to starve or in hoarding conditions. One day I hope the law is much stricter and that there is much more financial support for stray cat care here in Crete.

She has never been in a more financially precarious situation and it’s pretty terrifying. Things seemed to have changed for so many people sadly - everyone seems to have less money and everything is more expensive. SOS - please support me in helping this girl.

How long she must have suffered without anyone bothering to take her in. How can people watch a cat suffer like this, and do nothing?

People found her and contained her, but had nowhere for her to go. So I’ve stepped in, but honestly I desperately need financial help in order to assist her and the other cats in my care. Crete is facing its busiest season of the year and so many stray cats and kittens are in need.

Cats with complex health issues and disabilities often have horrible prospects - who will take them on? Who will nurse them? Where will they go in the long term if they are unadoptable?

This sweet girl had surgery funded by volunteers, but no place to go after. So Maria stepped in, as she has done literally hundreds of times. She never stops to consider if they are adoptable - are they friendly, young and healthy? Usually it’s the opposite - they have issues that mean they may well never find a home and will require lots of money and care in the meantime.
