Did you know that guinea pigs, like humans, cannot produce their own vitamin C? Without enough of this essential nutrient, they can develop significant health issues.
You can easily meet their daily vitamin C needs through their diet:
🥗 Peppers: Red, yellow, and green peppers are rich in vitamin C and safe for guinea pigs. Just remove the seeds before serving!
🥦 In small amounts, vegetables such as kale, spinach and broccoli can also add variety and nutrients.
🐹 Feed our Nutri Pressed® Guinea Pig Pellets alongside a balanced diet. Our pellets contain added vitamin C!

Have you ever noticed your rabbit grinding its teeth? 🐰
There are a few different signs of tooth grinding that could indicate a number of things:
- Loud tooth grinding: Rabbits tend to grind their teeth loudly if they're unwell, in pain or distressed.
- Quiet tooth grinding: Rabbits will sometimes quietly grind their front teeth when they're happy and relaxed/ to help wear them down.

If you become concerned about your rabbit, always consult a vet.

A big misconception about guinea pigs is that they don’t like to interact with humans. Guinea pigs are actually very sociable animals and enjoy the company of not only you, but other guinea pigs too. They may come across shy at first, but as soon as they get used to their surroundings and have bonding time with you and other guinea pigs, they’ll love being around you 🐹🤍

Hamsters’ teeth grow continuously and require regular wearing down. A lack of suitable chewing materials can lead to overgrown incisors, affecting their ability to eat. To help prevent overgrowth, monitor and check your hamster's mouth regularly for any signs of discomfort or if they stop eating. Remember to always consult a vet should you become concerned about their health 🐹

Guinea pigs’ nails grow continuously and can become overgrown if not trimmed regularly 🐹
Overgrown nails may curl painfully into the footpad, alter posture and joint health and increase risk of injury.
Nail trims should be done every 4–6 weeks, with special care taken to avoid the quick - the area that contains the nerves and blood vessels.

Chinchillas may look soft and cuddly, but most do not enjoy prolonged handling. They are highly sensitive to touch, preferring minimal physical contact. Forced handling can sometimes lead to stress responses, including fur slip, aggression/vocalisation, and withdrawal or avoidance behaviour. Focus on building trust through gentle interaction with your chinchilla 🐹🤎

Guinea pigs are prone to a condition called pododermatitis (also known as bumblefoot) if housed on inappropriate surfaces. Wire floors, rough bedding or damp conditions, can lead to painful sores and infections on their feet.
Flat, dry and soft flooring is essential for prevention. If you become concerned about your guinea pigs feet, always consult a vet.
