πŸΎπŸ’š We Are Taking a Short Break πŸ’šπŸΎ

We are now CLOSED for a couple of weeks whilst we spend some quality time with family and recharge our batteries.

Taking this time away will allow us to return refreshed and ready to continue providing the very best care and support for your pets throughout the summer. During this time, you may see some new posts from us - these are scheduled posts, we will not be active on social media.

πŸ“© Messages and enquiries will be responded to from 22nd June

πŸ“… Appointments are available from 25th June onwards

πŸ’» Bookings can still be made online at:
www.petnursenatasha.co.uk

We will also be holding another drop-in session on 25th June from 4pm, where you can pop in for advice, support and free weight checks. If you would like a specific appointment, we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

Thank you so much for your continued support since we opened. It truly means the world to us, and we look forward to welcoming you and your pets back very soon.

For now, here is a photo of the beautiful Bella, who was our last client of the day. Bella came for her glands and, although a little worried, with time, patience and minimal handling, she was very brave. We ended our appointment with lots of cuddles and even a tummy rub! Well done, Bella 😍

See you on 22nd June! ✨

🐾 Introducing Clinic Confidence Sessions 🐾

Does your dog get worried when visiting the vets? Do they become nervous around unfamiliar people, handling or veterinary equipment? Do you have a new puppy?

Our new Clinic Confidence Sessions are designed to help dogs build positive associations with routine veterinary care in a calm, supportive and reward-based environment.

During these one-to-one sessions, we work at your dog's pace to gradually introduce things they may encounter during future veterinary visits, including:

🐾 Sitting calmly on the scales
🐾 Meeting new people
🐾 Becoming comfortable in a clinical environment
🐾 Getting used to different sights, sounds and smells
🐾 Seeing common veterinary equipment (without procedures being performed)
🐾 Gentle handling and health check practice, including paws, ears, eyes and body examinations
🐾 Learning that veterinary visits can be positive and rewarding experiences

These sessions can be particularly beneficial for:

πŸ’š Nervous or anxious dogs*
πŸ’š Dogs with previous negative experiences
πŸ’š Puppies who would benefit from a positive introduction to veterinary care
πŸ’š Dogs who struggle with handling or examinations

Our aim is to build confidence, reduce stress and help make future veterinary visits safer and more comfortable for both pets and their owners.

πŸ“ Held at our Wisbech premises

πŸ’· Β£25 per 30-minute session

πŸ“¦ 4-session package available for Β£90 (save Β£10)

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, I'll tailor each session to your dog's individual needs, ensuring they remain comfortable and confident every step of the way.

🌑️🐾 Heatwaves can be dangerous for our pets, and recognising the signs of overheating early can save lives.

Signs of hyperthermia (overheating) can include:
β€’ Excessive panting
β€’ Drooling
β€’ Bright red gums or tongue
β€’ Weakness or lethargy
β€’ Vomiting or diarrhoea
β€’ Collapse or confusion

If you suspect your pet is overheating, act quickly but calmly:

βœ… Move them to a cool, shaded or air-conditioned area
βœ… Offer small amounts of cool (not ice cold) water
βœ… Use cool, damp towels on the paws, tummy and armpits
βœ… Use a fan to help air circulation
βœ… Contact your vet immediately for advice and make your way there safely

⚠️ Avoid using ice, ice baths or very cold water, as this can cause blood vessels to constrict and make cooling less effective.

Even if your pet seems to improve, veterinary assessment is still important, as heatstroke can cause serious internal complications.

Prevention is always best:
🐾 Avoid walks during the hottest part of the day
🐾 Ensure constant access to fresh water and shade
🐾 Never leave pets in cars
🐾 Keep homes cool and well ventilated

Stay safe and keep those furry friends cool this summer πŸ’š

Did you know overgrown nails can cause pain, posture problems and even injury in pets? 🐾

Regular nail clipping is an important part of keeping your pets healthy, comfortable and mobile. Whether you have a cat, dog, rabbit or guinea pig, keeping nails trimmed can help prevent:
β€’ Pain and discomfort
β€’ Snagging and broken nails
β€’ Difficulty walking or hopping
β€’ Joint strain and posture issues
β€’ Nails curling into paw pads or feet

Every pet is different, and some need nail trims more often than others. Keeping on top of nail care helps your furry friends stay happy, active and comfortable πŸ’š
