Here me and Bailey did some structured play.

This is fun for high drive dogs, but more importantly combines teaching impulse control with the opportunity to practice obedience skills such as stay, down and drop.

My next socialisation walk is going to be pretty different.

It's going to include a gun dog work shop

Introduction to scent work, retrieval on command and seek/find on command.

Your dog doesn't have to be a gundog to enjoy the fun!

Raising some awareness

My dog was attacked 2 weeks before Christmas by an off lead dog. He has only just started with alot of training to recover.

If you see someone with a dog on a lead, unless yours has excellent recall, put it on a lead.

Saturday 18th January. 10am. Held in Trimdon station town. Durham.

Puppy socialisation and introduction to obedience.

This 45 minute class is for puppies under 5 months of age. Ideal for getting started on your training and early critical socialisation. I will teach you the dos and don'ts of raising a balanced, happy puppy.

Class will cover starting the teachings of sit, stay, down and leave. The start of lead training and the dos and don't s of puppy socialisation.

This mornings puppy class :)

I have evidence to the contrary to this below 🤣 Whilst I agree on an untrained dog, harnesses will make pulling worst. They don't make a dog pull harder! A recent study of flat collars vs harnesses Dogs generally pull about 60 per cent harder on a leash when wearing a padded harness compared with a collar, even when the equipment is marketed as “anti pull” – putting the people walking them at risk of injury. Some dogs – especially smaller breeds – pull with a force more than twice their body weight on the collar, potentially damaging their throats, says Erin Perry at Southern Illinois University. “It’s really very shocking,” she says. “The dogs are almost choking themselves on that collar repeatedly. Announcing my new workshops these are going to be ran once a month initially with the potential for more if there is a demand. Introduction to gundog scent work and retrieval These sessions are great for starting up any young dog looking to train as a working gundog. Also great if you have a gundog breed or mix and are looking to learn ways to fulfill their breed needs. The first session will be Saturday 21st at 11am and there are 3 slots.

After this mornings training work me and Bailey hit the field for some scent work and long distance obedience.

Fab session this morning with Piper. She is doing really well with her lead walking. We did some introductory scent work as well!
