🌈

Lately, we’ve been surrounded by an outpouring of love and support as we say goodbye to many precious rabbits who have crossed the rainbow bridge. The grief can be overwhelming, but we’re finding comfort in the beauty of nature. Yesterday, a stunning rainbow appeared over Hoppy Acre, filling our hearts with peace and reminding us of the love that awaits our beloved buns on the other side🌈

We’re taking a moment to honor the memory of Bear and Fortnum, two gentle souls who joined our Hoppy Acre family in recent months. Though their time with us was short, they left big paw prints on our hearts. There respective partners Honey & Fortnum are permanent regents and we are dedicated to getting them both bonded.
We are happy to share that Honey has already found a new love in Winnie 🙏🏼

We extend our love, condolences and support to everyone that is reading this and going through the trauma of recent loss.

This is also a thank you to three very special rescues and friends that welcomed us into a small rescue family that show up, and support eachother as rescuers and humans.

Firstly, our hearts have bled with all of you with recent losses and we are here for you like you always are for us.
And a thank you, for the kindness and trust you have shown us 🙏🏼❤️

Rescues & friends that support eachother is the way to change the future for animals 🐾

PLEASE HELP US HELP DAVE & MILLY 🐾

A few days ago, we came across a post in a local community Facebook group that stopped us in our tracks.

A recently bereaved woman was desperately asking for help. Her ex-husband had passed away, leaving the animals in his home behind. She had been trying for weeks to find someone who could help them, but sadly no one had stepped forward.

When we saw her post, we knew we couldn’t ignore it. These cats had already been through enough, and they needed help as soon as possible.

That’s how Dave and Milly, two 12-year-old siblings, came into our care.

‼️WE ARE CLOSED FOR INTAKES‼️

Hello Hoppy Fam,

We need to put this here because sadly it doesn’t get noticed when it just gets added to our bio.

Hoppy Acre for the foreseeable future is not taking in new surrender requests as we have been since 2022. We will not be operating mostly as rescue/rehome. We will still be doing rescue but we cannot deal with what we have been for so long.

Hoppy Acre as of Monday 16th Feb 2026, is a sanctuary for animals in need and we will be focusing on the permanent residents we have as well as improving Hoppy Acre’s site and also allowing myself (Ell) & Magda to have a break from the literal chaos of what we do everyday.

We currently have adoption requests, and also a waiting list which we will honour to the best of our abilities. We cannot guarantee a personal reply to any new messages, there will likely be an automated response that says we are closed for intakes and suggests where else to look online.

There are several factors going into this decision,

- Change to financial situation which has left us with much less available income every month.
- Human burnout which has led to therapy, life coaching and frankly two pretty broken humans as of right now.
- The endless emotional blackmail and exposure to reading how so many see rabbits as disposable toys and object that can be thrown away.
- We need a break from experiencing animal death and also euthanasia.

& after almost 10 years of animal rescue, and 5 years of Hoppy Acre helping as many as we can,

We need a break & we need to invest in ourselves, focus on improving Hoppy Acre. And, the most important reason of all which is finding the joy in animal rescue again.
Because if the joy of rescue disappears, there are serious consequences. And those consequences have started to be felt.

We want to spend more time enjoying the lives of our permanent residents as we sadly rarely get the chance.

The truth is, no one here would even notice the difference via social media. But we have to do this to honour ourselves and ultimately the 🐾

We hope that everyone reading this can understand and appreciate what we are saying.

We lost Kos 🌈💔

We are devastated to let you all know that we lost our sweet special little man Kos two weeks ago just after mum and babies arrived, which is why this post is so late.

After half a year of rehabilitation and amazing success with him, he lost his battle with his early life neglect and abuse, after his body gave up just as he was in the best shape of his life. Post mortem revealed that he was as healthy as ever and that there was no reason why this happened now 💔

Kos leaves behind his second partner Mini Milk, who he shared 7 amazing weeks with after losing his first partner Pym in the late summer.

We have all felt this loss tremendously and had to take it in our stride as we dealt with an emergency intake of 14 in 3 days.

We will be doing a post over Xmas showing Kos’s journey with us since he arrived from in early 2025.

Kos joined us to be a sanctuary resident. He stole our hearts early as he battled many minor health issues after having multiple teeth removed with before joining us.

He is sorely missed and cases like his destroy your soul.
Life just isn’t fair,
Kos not being here, isn’t fair.

We miss you dude ❤️‍🩹

😭😭😭

This sweet dude is Trevor. Trev arrived this weekend and sadly has had barely anything other than cage for over 4 years. The painful reality of so many buns all over.
Not neutered or vaxxed, no vet health history.

He’s settled well, enjoying the extra space. Especially after those awful nails were trimmed.

All of Trev’s needs will be sorted by us and hopefully soon to bonded and in a forever home in 2026 ❤️

Welcome Trev 🐾

🚨Emergency Arrival Post 🚨

Introducing Mumma Moko with her seven babies, Dad & daughter from a previous litter.

It’s been a WEEK!! We received a phone call on Monday from a woman about some sort of home eviction and there being the buns you can see in this post at the home against her wishes by her husband. We arrived and it seemed like some sort of home breeding for children’s entertainment not profit.
Important to add that Sara, the person that called us, donated £130 towards their future vet bills.
This is a rare, and we want to acknowledge the gesture 🙏🏼

We got everyone picked up & back to Hoppy with the help from the wonderful .hayes

It became clear that Moko was pregnant with another litter and we booked her in for an emergency assessment, and potential spay. After discussing what was best for her, with close rescue friends and our vets. The decision was made to go ahead with the surgery.

Thankfully, she was still in very early stages of pregnancy and the surgery was as routine as it could be, and wouldn’t be the invasive surgery we feared. Everything went well, she came home and had 36 hours total rest in which she’s gone from strength to strength.

During this time all babies were checked and weighed. All super healthy and wriggly. We reintroduced them and Moko fed them all ❤️

The babies in the last 24 hours have had a huge growth spurt, and have all fully left the nest. They are all eating, binkying, huddling & sleeping.

They are now fully reunited and right now everybun is good 🙏🏼

We have a live GoFundMe.

Thank you to everyone that jumped on this all week and have been sharing their story and fundraiser. We appreciate you ❤️

It’s Ell’s 39th trip around the 🌞

If anyone wants to celebrate and give a gift to Ell, we would deeply appreciate a donation to Hoppy Acre. This donation will go towards our vet tab and upcoming bills for new intakes.

Any amount would be amazing and if we raise enough Ell will do a live st******se on Insta tonight (just joking 👀)

Thank you in advance to all that donate and special Happy Bday to Ell. I’m sure you’re all joining the hoppy fam when we say, thank you Ell for your tireless dedication to everyone ❤️

From an ethical vegan animal rescue in the UK all the way to the in Phuket ✈️ 🐘 🏞️

We salute, support, and thank everyone involved with 🙏🏼❤️

What has been launched, and created in the heart of Phuket, Thailand is truly remarkable. Every part of the message is on point and it does not forget to include all other animals in their messaging by not serving the body parts of any animals on site for human consumption.
And having rescue cats and water birds on/site.

Human exploitation of Elephants includes -

- Tourist attraction performance
- Circus attraction performance - Labour for environment destruction (capitalism)
- Trophy hunted for body parts
- Kidnapping of offspring in wild

The last video slide is the rescue of their latest arrival Wan Mai (direct from the website),
At 59 years old, Wan Mai spent the last 30 years with the same family who decided they wanted her to enjoy a peaceful retirement. Her story is similar to many captive elephants. She spent most of her working life in the logging and riding industries, both exhausting and arduous. Her days were long especially when she used to give up to 40 rides per day.

Residents of Hidden Forest Elephant Reserve,

วันใหม่ Wan Mai (A New Day) 59
ฝ้าย Nong Fai (Cotton) 56
น้ำผึ้ง Nam Paerng (Honey) 59
ชื่อก่อบุญ Gaw Boon (Good Luck) 54
ต้นอ้อย Ton Oi (Sugarcane) 44
วาสนา Wassana (Destiny) 49
สุดใจ Sudjai (The deepest love at the bottom of your heart) 61
บุญเย็น Boon Yen (Peaceful) 59 yrs
&
นางฟ้า Nang Fa (Angel) - RIP, 20th March 2025.

Nang Fa’s enslavement meant that the endless chaining up with limited walk time meant she had very weak legs & in a truly horrific condition when rescued.
She only experienced 3 months of freedom.
Rest in power 🌈

Animals are here with us, not for us.
Riding, bathing, cuddling are not acts that in any way benefit these gentle giants. This proves the conscious theft of their natural instincts. This equals torture to perform. This means if you visit you are paying people to abuse Elephants.

Love & Liberation,
Hoppy Acre ✊🏼🐾
