And while getting them spayed or neutered often helps calm those urges, it's not always a magic "off" switch for the behavior.

The Hormone Hustle 🐾
Think of it like doggy puberty! Around 18 months, our pups hit their teenage years, and hormones start surging. For intact males especially, that testosterone can definitely lead to more hu***ng.

Why Fixed Fidos Still Hump! (It's Not Always What You Think) 🤔
So, your dog's been spayed or neutered, and you're still seeing this behavior? You're not alone! It can take up to six weeks for those hormones to fully leave their system. But even after that, hu***ng can stick around for a few other surprising reasons:

Extreme heatwaves are expected across the globe this summer, don’t be caught off guard when it comes to keeping your pets safe. 🌡️

Animals with flat faces, such as pugs and Persian cats, or who are elderly and overweight are more susceptible to heat related distress.

⚠️ EVEN IF windows are cracked, NEVER leave animals in hot cars as temperatures can rise quickly in unattended vehicles. ⚠️

Do not leave your pets outdoors - including backyards and patios - unattended.

Walk dogs early or late evening and not during the height of the day, and limit exercise during peak hours. Extreme heat is a serious threat to humans and animals, but just by being aware of the risks is a giant step in preventing heat stroke, dehydration, and other heat related illnesses.
