We're so sorry to be saying this.

It is with absolutely broken hearts that we share that Pebble has sadly passed away.

After everything she had already survived, we really thought Pebble was finally getting her chance. Her surgery went well, the mass removed from her spleen was confirmed not to be cancerous and although she still had a long recovery ahead of her, she amazed everyone her with her strength.

But in the weeks following her surgery, Pebble became poorly again. At one of her post-op checks, vets found that her blood count had dropped dangerously low and they began to suspect she may have been suffering from an autoimmune condition. She was given emergency treatment and we prepared ourselves to admit her back into hospital if she did not improve overnight.

Devastatingly, by the following day, Pebble had deteriorated even more. We did not want to give up on her. We consulted with five trusted vet surgeons, desperately hoping there was still another option, another treatment, another chance for her. But sadly, they all agreed that Pebble’s condition was no longer treatable and that the kindest thing we could do for her was to let her go peacefully.

We are absolutely shattered.

We fought so hard for Pebble and she fought so hard too. After a life where she had been neglected, overbred and discarded, we wanted more than anything for her story to end differently. We wanted her to finally get the long, happy life she always deserved.

But although we could not give her years, we're trying to take comfort in knowing that we were still able to give her the chance to experience how her life should have been.

During her final weeks, Pebble knew love, safety and kindness. She had home cooked meals, the fluffiest beds to snuggle in and as many cuddles as she could possibly ask for. She was adored by every single person who met her and all we hope is that she left this world knowing she finally mattered to people.

To everyone who donated, shared her fundraiser, sent kind messages or kept her in your thoughts, thank you. Because of your generosity, Pebble got her chance. She received the surgery, the specialist care and the love she should have always had. We know this news will be deeply upsetting to so many people who followed her journey, and we are so sorry that this story could not have the ending we all hoped for.

We will never stop caring for dogs like Pebble, we will always fight for them and do whatever we possibly can to protect them and give them the lives they deserve, and now we'll be doing it with the memory of Pebble kept close in our hearts.

Thank you for loving Pebble with us, we'll never forget her.

Pebble Update:
We've got our girl back!

3 blood transfusions, 2 overnight hospital stays and 1 spleen removed. She did it, she made it through and as the vets told us over the phone, you'd never know she had just been through major surgery. She's up and alert, but she's got a long recovery ahead of her, not just to recover from the surgery but also to start getting her blood count up. She had lost so much blood through the internal bleeding that it's going to take a long time for her bone marrow and cells to replenish. She's going to have a lot of blood test and check ups over the next few weeks, but so far, she seems like she's feeling a bit better already.

To sum up Pebble's personality, even when we were collecting her from the vets, she was going over to everyone in the waiting room to say hello. She had every right to feel groggy and rotten, but she was just so happy to see people and get some fusses. She has such a pure heart and kind soul. She's going to be staying with a staff member in foster care now, to make sure she recovers well. We will keep you all updated!

Pebble Update:

THANK YOU! We have hit our £5,000 target so quickly and we're so happy to say that thanks to your kindness, Pebble's operation has been confirmed and scheduled in. She will spend the first night in hospital, getting her preliminary blood transfusion, then she will have a full splenectomy with another blood transfusion during surgery, another overnight stay and a third transfusion before (hopefully) being discharged and coming back to us. The vets have been very clear through her diagnosis and consultations that the stakes really couldn't be higher for Pebble. Quite frankly, the fact she made it this long is a miracle, but we believe in our girl to keep defying the odds and make it through all of this. Everyone who has met Pebble so far has fallen in love with her, as we dropped her off at the vets, one of the nurses cried along with us, because we just can't believe what a tough life this beautiful dog has had so far. We're keeping records throughout to keep Pebble's supporters updated, so check back for more news and thank you, so much to anyone who has donated to help

Pebble is just 2 years old.

In that short time, she’s already been used, over and over again, to bring new life into the world, and when she couldn’t give anymore, she was thrown away. Left alone and forgotten.

Right now, Pebble is critically ill. She has a bleeding mass on her spleen that could rupture at any moment. Without urgent treatment, a blood transfusion and life saving surgery, she won’t survive.

This is her only chance, and giving up on Pebble now is not an option for us. Please help us to raise £5,000 to cover the cost of her treatment and save her life.

She has spent her life giving everything to others. Now it’s our turn to give something back to her.

Please donate if you can: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/pebble

If you can’t donate, please share to reach someone who can.

Let’s help her finally know what it means to be loved.

We need kitten food!

We keep saying that kitten season is getting longer and longer each year, and we're already in full swing this year. We currently have 9 litters of kittens in our care which is a lot of tiny mouths to feed and we're going through kitten food very quickly.

If you would like to help, you can drop off kitten food donations at reception or send them to the centre through our Amazon Wishlist here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/3ABU8BJCGDU8P?ref_=wl_share

We're particularly in need of Whiskas, High Life and Sheba as these seem to be the most universally liked!

Loving home needed!

This is Daisy, she was found abandoned and was brought to us in December. We're not sure what she has been through, but she is struggling a lot with stress and desperately needs to find an experienced, kind rabbit owner who can give her the patience and support she needs to flourish.

Daisy is currently in foster care and she has been making good progress over the last few weeks. She's slowly building trust and is learning to take treats from people. She recently got a treat dispending ball and she loves nudging it around with her nose.

All rabbits need a companion, and we think that having a bonded friend could be the thing to make all the difference for Daisy. With the amount of anxiety she experiences, we believe that befriending a neutered male rabbit could give her the company and reassurance she needs to continue gaining confidence and learn to relax so that her real personality can shine through.

We're desperately seeking an experienced rabbit owner, with a neutered male rabbit who can really help to change Daisy's life.

If you think you could be that person, please register your interest here - https://www.nawt.org.uk/rehoming/animal/12011/

Velma was found as a stray and brought to us in September last year, before being adopted in October.

Krueger was adopted back in October and went to live with another NAWT rabbit, Dot, who had sadly recently lost her brother and was in need of a new companion. The pair are now happily bonded and their owner says "He is so calm and loveable. He is brining out her kind nature too so they are the perfect match. "
