Sunshine calls for slower days, shade, sniffing and snoozing ☀️🐾

This morning started early with 13-year-old Phoenix and 7-month-old Odin out before the heat kicked in.

Phoenix enjoyed a gentle potter and a chance to warm her old bones in the morning sunshine, while Odin - being Odin - took his woodland sniffing duties extremely seriously 🌿👃

A longer, shady walk for the puppy before the sun broke through… then home for water, cool floors, open doors and a very long nap for both of them.

Phoenix is currently sunbathing like a retired diva 🕶️

Odin is recharging ready for further chaos later 😂

Stay cool out there, everyone ☀️🐶

As Mental Health Awareness Week draws to a close, I wanted to acknowledge the quiet (or not so quiet in Reggie’s case😂) but important role dogs play in so many of our lives.

They give us a reason to get up when things feel heavy.

They never judge us.

They love us when we don’t feel particularly lovable ourselves.

They greet us with pure joy after the hardest days, sit beside us when words feel impossible, and somehow seem to know exactly when we need comfort most.

Dogs remind us to slow down. To be present. To find joy in small things.

To get outside, breathe fresh air and keep moving forward.

And perhaps, most importantly, they teach us how powerful love, loyalty and connection can be.

If you’re lucky enough to share your life with a dog, you’ll probably understand exactly what I mean ❤️

Four years ago today, this beautiful blue chaos goblin came into our lives and somehow convinced us he was the one in charge 😂💙

Just a quick one this morning.

At 8.20am, Granada TV is doing a piece on less than professional dog sitters.

Please watch it if you can.

It can look like an easy or “lucrative” job - but done properly, it’s anything but.

For me, this is a professional service built on trust, safety, and experience. That means:

✔️ Multiple free meet & greets (no rushing - your dog sets the pace)
✔️ Fully insured
✔️ Canine first aid trained
✔️ Advanced DBS checked
✔️ Qualified in professional dog walking (MDWA)
✔️ Member of NARPS

The sitter should also have a process in place to capture key information about your dog(s) including health, previous history, preferences, routine, vet and emergency contacts.

But more than any qualification, it’s about how your dog feels.

I take the time to understand their routine, their quirks, their anxieties - so when you leave, they feel safe, settled, and completely at home.

If you’re watching today and feeling unsure about who to trust, that’s completely understandable. Just know there are sitters who take this responsibility very seriously.

Your dog isn’t just being “looked after” - they should be genuinely cared for 🤍
