We are aware of a few videos circulating social media at the moment regarding ibuprofen ingestion in dogs.

Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is commonly used in people for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with aches and pains, headache, cramps and for the relief of mild fever.

Ibuprofen is a very widely available over-the-counter painkiller. Although well tolerated in people, dogs are very sensitive to ibuprofen and ingestion of even a relatively low dose can cause adverse effects on the gut and the kidneys. A very large overdose can even cause very rapid onset features including convulsions.

โ˜Ž๏ธOwners can call Animal PoisonLine on 01202 509000 if they are concerned about their pet.

We do not recommend the administration of any human medications without prior consultation with your veterinary surgeon.

Rocco came back to reception after his appointment, just to let us know that his second vaccination wasn't too bad after all, and that vet Iva said he's a good boy. ๐Ÿ™Š๐Ÿพ

This week's puppy love ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ‘‡

Edward is a little retriever puppy who attend an appointment with his big brother, to help with his socialisation. This is particularly important because he will be a future guide dog. His current human dad does amazing work in helping to train and raise guide dogs. We wish Eddie the best of luck with his future training.

Next up is the beautiful Pru. She is our practice directors newest additional to her family. She is still settling in and got to meet her new big sister Maude this week. We look forward to seeing what chaos they can both create in the office together ๐Ÿ˜‚

Finally, Daisy attended her appointment today and brought along her little pups to meet everyone. There was lots of cuddles, lots of little nose bops, lots of happy staff and most importantly, lots of attentions for Daisy.

Hypertension (high blood pressure) is common in older cats and dogs. Where symptoms are shown, they are more likely due to an underlying disease process such as kidney disease, hyperthyroidism or heart disease ๐Ÿซ€

For some patients, hypertension doesnโ€™t have any symptoms until organ damage occurs. For this reason, we recommend annual routine blood pressure checks for cats and dogs over 7 years old.
