I know I've been very quiet on here lately and I apologise, but I've been taking some time to think about the Tuck Shop and it's future.
3 years ago I started the Tuck Shop, extending my All Things Pawsible from dog walking and pet sitting, to selling natural treats for dogs. I will be going into my 4th year of the Tuck Shop soon, but this year I've really had to take a hard look at it's future.
Running a small business is so hard, and it has its many ups and downs. You can go through quiet periods and worry about making any sort of profit. But usually things have picked back up, and to be honest, I've loved it all. Meeting new people and dogs at markets, researching new treats and creating new boxes and displays. I've addes snuffle toys and lickimat bundles to my products and even worked with another small business to provide dog accessories too. I've even had some people from Wales and Scotland purchase some products, so not just local, which I was amazed by!
However, this year has been my toughest. The first couple of years went from strength to strength but this year has been so quiet! I've very rarely had an order on here and unfortunately due to my work schedule have not been able to attend as many markets. Even then though, one market I didn't even make the fees back even though footfall was high. Nobody seemed to be buying at all! It's really sad because I've seen quite a few small businesses have to close because they just can't compete with the bigger companies.
Now to be clear, I am not closing the business but I am having to make some changes and stock is just getting wasted. I've had to throw away lots of treats or give them away and they are just going out of date due to limited sales. Obviously a business can't function like that. So instead I am going to be running my stock down and I am unfortunately going to have to offer less products. I will no longer be doing cat treats and i will have less choice of treat boxes. But I will still have some fantastic treats boxes on offer! I will still have birthday boxes, mystery boxes, a taster/puppy box and my special themed boxes. At the moment, I am putting together our summer treat box which will be out soon. You can also still create your own with the treat i have available.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not doing this post asking you to suddenly spend lots of money on dog treats. Obviously if you would like to purchase something, great! Im here to help. But I ask that if you know someone with a dog that you maybe recommend me. Also contact me if you know of any local markets. I may not be able to do them all but i would love to attend as maby as i can.I ask that you please help my page to be seen by engaging with posts and sharing them. This is one of the hardest things. I've try to post as much as possible and share different things, like my Wednesday Walkies and other adventures with my dog or my clients so that it's not just me shoving treats in your face but I get hardly any views. So if I'm not being seen, nobody knows I'm here!
